Alcohol consumption can slow down long -term weight loss to patients with type 2 diabetes, as evidenced by a study by researchers from the Nursing School of the University of Pennsylvania (United States), published in the magazine 'Obesity'.
To achieve this conclusion, at work, a monitoring of about 5,000 people overweight and diabetes was carried out for four years, who divided into two groups: one of intensive life intervention (ILI) and the other in a group ofControl consisting of education and support for diabetes.
The data showed that the participants in the ILI group refrained from alcohol consumption during the four -year period lost more weight than those who took any amount during the intervention.
"This study indicates that although alcohol consumption is not associated with short -term weight loss during a lifestyle intervention, it is associated with a worse long -term weight loss in participants with overweight or obesity andType 2 diabetes, "experts have asserted.
