In July 1983, promoted by Dr. Mirentxu Oyarzabal and her team of the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit of the Virgen del Camino Hospital, a group of about 20 families with boys or girls suffering from diabetes formed the Association of Parents of Infanta-Juvenile Diabetics ofNavarra, seed of the Navarra Association of Diabetes-Nafarroako Diabetes Elkartea, with more than 600 people today.

Thirty -five years later, the main objectives for which it was founded are "practically the same, because we follow the guidelines that occurred from the beginning, which was to help all people with diabetes, education, training and information", without forgettingof the training camp that in its 36 editions - they began a year before the association - "there has not been even once the president of the entity, Juantxo Remón, who pointed out, in this regard, which, in this regard.Every year they benefit from this service about 50 or 60 children with this pathology and their families.

To celebrate this event, Anadi yesterday organized an act in the Pamplona Cathedral in which they had the founding people of the Association, such as Conchi de Blas and Puy Irurzun, and paid tribute to the health team that promoted the project.The event, whose entry required invitation and for which the capacity of 150 people was filled, had Dr. Bernat Soria, professor of regenerative medicine, who reviewed the past, present and future of the investigation in his talk on the road to the healing ofDiabetes.

After thirty -five years, this entity, formed at the beginning by about twenty families, has become “a reference for all people with diabetes and their families in this community, with about 600 associated people and offering support to the groupof people affected from its headquarters on Curia Street, ”he said.To do this, it offers a wide range of services in diabetological education, psychological and social care, training for adolescents and families; all of them with the aim of improving the quality of life and self -care of affected people and their families.

“In these years, since the Association we have worked and collaborated by joining efforts with the services of Endocrine and Pediatrics.We have created alliances with other entities, such as the Spanish Federation of Diabetes, Cocemfe Navarra, and we are active in the institutions that work for diabetes in our community, ”said Juantxo Remón, who added that“ the future challenges will always be to claim that peopleWith diabetes and their families have a good quality of life. ”
