Dani Se's profile photo   01/08/2018 2:07 a.m.

Hello!I tell you that my son after having vomited one night (a lot) began the lack of control two strong descents and from there decrease lantus and lispro, when the diabetololgo began to climb us to go up little by little, x was there.A week, when it seemed that everything was accommodated, I started at dawn high, 180, 200..Then diabetologist told me to take Lantus in the afternoon, little by little ... these days is high, I have to correct it, and I am scared of theComments from the Lantus of those who get late_ night. What is your experience with the Lantus x the afternoon?

If it gets up high, the dose of Lantus will have to be uploaded, it will not be necessary to change the schedule.
In children you have to increase doses as they need it.

I imagine that when you say diabetologist you mean a doctor and nobody from the networks.
The Lantus does not last 24 and is not flat, at night it is true that it has happened to many who has created hypos, in the afternoon perhaps those hypos with dinner could be corrected.
When Lantus began in the market, its use was before putting at night, then it was discovered from the continuous lies of the Lantus.
I am surprised that there are still doctors to recipe them having new insulins, but if that has told you that the doctor pays attention to him, they are the ones who really know everything about the diabetic, we are in the networks and advise what to do is difficult.Besides that we are not professionals.

Jconegar Diabetôogo in my country is = endocrine in yours.About toujeo insulins here does not yet come, also because of what Leo does not know if it is approved in children. Another insulin I do not know!I do not share that the doctors are the ones who know "all" of the diabetic, I believe, in my short experience, that they have a knowledge because they studied, how lucky my son's doctor is very open and many times he listens to my change consultations sinceIt is I who I know how food works in my son, and many times I have tried things that I have read or that they have told me in this forum, some consulting them with the doctor and others not, I think that we should not dismiss personal experience, althoughThey are not professionals, they are very helpful, an example I give you, my son had giant peaks after breakfast and from here they counted that they were waiting before breakfast each different times, I had consulted with the doctor and told me that they were inevitable, I started with5 minutes that my son expects and that way manages to remove the postprandial peaks.

@"Dani76", there are other slows better than Lantus but I don't know if they will be sold there or if they are approved for use in young children.Ask the doctor all the options in case there is any better than the Lantus for his case.Anyway, keep in mind that I will need more and more slow as it grows. The problem is that you need an adjustment in the dose and not so much the time it is put. Also that the doctor assess the option to put the slow one twice, one in the morning and another at night to cover him 24 hours if that can be the problem. There are people who do it and do very well.
As for the Lantus, I use it before the toujeo a few years and it is not flat at all, it has a more action peak at the beginning and does not cover 24 hours.I put it on at 23:00 and sometimes I gave me low at night and then in the afternoon I climbed because I did not cover myself 24 hours. Now I use toujeo I put it in the morning and if it covers me 24 hours. And this is flat, I have not had low dances at night and I go to bed at 80 or 90 normally.I certainly prefer to put it in the morning instead of the night, especially the lantus that if the action peak catches you sleeping can give you a downturn and it is more difficult to find out.And having to bed high to avoid it is hours with glucose above the desirable without need.
Levemir in Spain is also put on children although I don't know the age limit, I know an 8 -year -old case. There is also the three -year but I don't know any case as children who use it.The two are more flat than Lantus and may be a better option. That the doctor explains well.

My daughter was also given nocturnal hypoglycemia when we started with Lantus at night and thanks to the advice of a forum we changed it in the morning and everything was solved.Forums like this can help a lot with new insulins.
When he woke up high two or three days in a row, we increased the slow average dose in half unity, while it was small, until it is hit.
Children need insulin variations for seasons and is usually adjusted with half units, waiting for two days for another change.

If regina, I think how you. Many things I learned from this forum, who does the doctors do not know not having diabetes! It would be excellent a diabetologist or endocrine that has diabetes, right?
Today it will be the second day that I apply Lantus in the afternoon, in Ka snack.A while ago I speak with the doctor and told me to see three days and see if you accommodate but to upload one more unit but leave it in the snack.

The schedule that will best find it.He who avoids hypos with enough dose to avoid hypers.
The toujeo is an improved lantus, but I don't know if it is approved in children.

The toujeo in my country is not.The Levemir tells me the doctor who applies twice and the three -one that lasts a little more than 24 hours but is equally flat as Lantus.I will see these days ... today in lunch 260 I had, but I must wait three days to contemplate up dose or not.

You can tell experiences but I will never say how another person or the steps to follow.I can give sport talks, say how acting to avoid peaks, as I reduce basal as I do so that my glyc is 4.6 on average without hypos, when I go to the hospital you can download endocrine to raise issues, but I will never give adviceHow to act, that's what specialists are.
If the endocrine you see you think that you do not have enough knowledge, the logical thing is that you change to another, you are in another country or not.
Have you considered that by following the advice of another person, your child enters a hypoglycemic coma?Think well what I ask you and when I say a coma is not a fainting that is solved with glucagon.
Doctors are for something and we can tell how we have not, tell our experience, but advise?
You talk about the lesson that they are two punctures, if they are two punctures, it is for something, perhaps they can even be better controlled, but that a specialist should tell you, think that with two punctures you can regulate more and put more or less insulin.

Jconegar x there I can't explain well, so you can't understand what I write.X assume that the things that I modify or happen to my son consults them with their diabetologist, I am lucky to tell, if necessary, daily with him.And everything I can take from the forum, as the example that I wait for breakfast, I did it when I had the Dexcom G5, and I started waiting for 5 minutes, what I am going to be that I learned something that I did not know that I did, orIt would have happened to me and the diabetologist did not tell me either, it was very little by little until I found the best for him, I would never do anything risky, and like many people who participate in this forum, we took things with caution, nobody says that we have to tell himto the other what you have to do.Greetings!

The shared experiences are those that can guide us.
In the case of young children, endocrine only give you guidelines to modify insulins and you have to make decisions on many occasions. What teaches the most is experience itself.

In the case of my daughter, the Pico de Lantus noticed it at 5 hours of putting it, but if you put it in the snack you can spend the night well.
It's a matter of trying and staying with the schedule that comes best.
That was my endocrine advice

To change the schedule, we did it little by little in several days .., the best for me daughter was the morning, because the last hours of Lantus do not cause him hypos., But you have to try until the greatest stability is achieved.

Yes, Regina, we will try. Thanks to the experiences they write, one is learning, or x at least me, being careful.See a while ago with the doctor X the Tresiba, and it is in my country, we will make some more attempt, such as waiting for three days this change and will value it to change. Thanks to Yesssica and you who appointed her, I did not even know what existed !!!
