The City Council of Alpedrete will light next Tuesday in Blue on the occasion of the celebration of World Diabetes Day in an initiative promoted by the Consistory and the Diabetes Madrid Association (Adisa).
The appointment will be on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and the choice of color is justified because the blue circle is the World Diabetes Day logo, the town hall details.
"Its meaning is very positive, in many cultures, the circle symbolizes life and health. The blue color represents the sky that unites all nations and is the color of the United Nations flag," explains the International Federation of Diabetes(FID).
In 2017, World Day will focus on "Women and Diabetes", with the slogan "our right to a healthy future."
At present, there are more than 199 million women living with diabetes, and it is estimated that this total will increase to 313 million by 2040.
In addition, it is the ninth cause of death among women with 2.1 million deceased every year, and 1 in 7 births are conditioned by gestational diabetes.
