This Sunday, the Plaza Mayor has been the starting point of the march for diabetes on a day in which a meal was also planned for the benefit of this disease, in the shooting field.

The initiative is part of the celebration of World Diabetes Day that, for the third consecutive year, has organized to give greater visibility to diabetes, which affects about 3,000,000 people over 15 years.

Also this week, under the motto ‘Do not stay at home.Move for diabetes ’, a paddle tournament has been organized, at the Padel Home Club, in Villamayor.

The money raised will be destined for the Diabetescero organization, a movement of parents of children with type 1 diabetes and adults, who fight for research. In Salamanca, for the organization of these solidarity acts, the selfless collaboration of more than fortycity ​​companies.

More activities

In addition, other activities have been scheduled from the association: on November 11 and 12, free glycemias will be held in a tent installed in the Plaza de los Bandos.The schedule of the 11th will be from 10’00 to 20’00h and on the 12th, from 10’00 to 14’00h.

On November 14, the auditorium of the Nursing School will host, at 6:00 p.m., the talk "Women and Diabetes" by Dr. Louise Myriam Beaulieu Oriol, endocrinologist at the University Hospital of Salamanca and nurse RuthMaría Ortiz, Diabetes Educator of the University Hospital.
