On November 18 he will celebrate the VI race and healthy walk that in the last edition had a total of 1,200 participants
What began seven years ago as a walk between family and friends has become a party day, "in something that is already associated with spending a day with family or friends," says Carolina Paniagua, president of the associationMiróbriga Diabetes, to refer in this case, to the VI race and a walk healthy for diabetes.
This year the appointment has been scheduled for November 18 and although the group began operating seven years ago, they have been raised funds that then allocate to the investigation. In total they speak of about 18,000 euros, if some donations are taken into account, but only from this race have obtained around 10,000 euros in that period.
"From the first year we have collected everything we have given to the investigation, we do it annually," adds the president.
As far as the race is concerned, it was the youngest members of the association in charge of presenting it because, as Carolina recalled, "they are the reason why this began and the engine for which it continues to function."
The appointment has several tests, the first one for runners over 16, who must complete 10 kilometers from 10:30 am.In this case, a maximum of 300 participants are contemplated. The minor categories, with different tours, will begin at 12:00 and establish a maximum of 200 runners. In the case of the Walks, which will leave at 11:45, in all cases of Laguna Street, the planned quota is 400 people. In the last edition between all categories and tests, the figure of 1,200 participants was finally reached.
As far as registration is concerned, today and tomorrow they can be formalized at the headquarters of the Association, in the old health center and from next week in this same headquarters and through the Orycrontsport page. These inscriptions will end on the 14th and the collection of dorsals will take place on the 16th and 17th days in the Eladio Jiménez pavilion and on the 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. next to the departure.
All participants will be given a commemorative shirt and the registration price is 7 euros for adults and 3 euros for children.
The Councilor for Sports of Ciudad Rodrigo, Carlos Fernández Chanca, valued this event very positively and pointed out that "when a sporting activity meets six editions it is not the result of chance."
He opted for those goals that are achieved with these activities such as "informing, aware and sensitizing about diabetes", without forgetting, support for research.
The City Council of Ciudad Rodrigo and the Diabetes Association maintain an agreement under which the former contributes 1,000 euros every year.
