Ten Spaniards with diabetes will participate for six days in the ‘Rueda by diabetes to Mont Blanc‘ diabetes, a mountain cyclist test that runs through the French Alps.
Next to the nine men and the Spanish woman, there will be another group of Dutch cyclists with diabetes.The objective is to improve the knowledge and control of diabetes through sport and its values.And, at the same time, sensitize the population about the importance of remaining physically active and carrying a balanced diet.
The challenge consists of more than 450 kilometers to travel in six stages
The challenge starts on September 11.During the six days, runners will travel 450 kilometers and reach a maximum altitude of 10,000 meters.They will leave from Beaufort and go through Saint Gervisis, Chamonix, Trient and Champex (Switzerland), until ending in the Italian city of Coumayeur.
The test, promoted by the Diabetes Foundation and the Bas Van Foundation of Goor, has the support of Novo Nordisk.It is part of the global awareness campaign challenging diabetes.And the goal is to educate people with this disease.

How could it be otherwise, participants will have medical and technical assistance.There will be two doctors -Dr. Alberto Díaz Medical of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service of the Bierzo Hospital, and Dr. Elías Delgado, Head of Section of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service of the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) and Professor of the Faculty of the Facultyof Medicine of the University of Oviedo- that will also perform the stages and that will ensure the health of the adventurers.
