In the Amexhe community, the mutual aid group “Love and Life” composed of 20 Guanajuato was accredited with chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes and hypertension and that together have reached control levels to prevent disease complications.
As Amexhe's GAM exists about 500 groups throughout the state with the same mission.
The Secretary of Health, Daniel Díaz invites people with some of these diseases to approach the nearest health center to add one of these groups.
He explained that together with the University of Guanajuato there is a study of the State Secretariat of the State that talks about the life expectancy of a Guanajuato, who is 76 years, but healthy 65 years.
In other words, there is a ten -year disease burden, which calls for a better quality of life to Guanajuato in those years.
For example, the AMEXHE GAM and its 20 members, 70 percent have a diagnosis of diabetes, one of the pathologies that at the national level affects the population and not trying to take care of their food and exercise, they can have complications like one footDiabetic, renal failure, retinopathy, until you reach an intensive therapy service.
60 percent have arterial hypertension, 45 percent overweight or obesity and 95 percent have mixed dyslipidemia.
The 20 patients initiated their control in July 2016, always working with great motivation to improve their health with support from health jurisdiction III personnel.
They were given comprehensive care, with support of doctor, nutrition, nursing, psychology and dental health, with the aim of adopting a healthy lifestyle, which step by step has led them to the achievement of their control goals.
The mutual aid group is very committed, more than a fellowship, a good friendship, have learned to make important changes in their lives and transmit knowledge in family and social environment.
It is intended that thanks to the effort, performance and dedication of patients to improve their health, it has a positive impact on the community, being the example that if they can be made worthy representatives of a mutual help group.
