From Walmart welfare on June 17, Walmart will offer free health checks in its more than 4,600 locations throughout the country, from 10 a.m.At 2 p.m.local time.This year, Walmart is helping to expand the event beyond a single day collaborating with the American Diabetes Association to offer support to people who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, today, one in each eleven people in the United States has diabetes and 86 million more than one in three?They are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. After Walmart welfare on June 17, the American Diabetes Association will contact interested clients, via email, whose blood pressure and blood glucose tests have indicated that they can be ingreater risk of diabetes, providing resources and suggestions of steps to follow.

We know that many of our clients have learned, for the first time, that they have a health problem in one of our Walmart welfare events, and that that can be overwhelming.Walmart is proud to be working with the American Diabetes Association to offer even more support to customers who can find themselves in this situation.
Since its first Walmart welfare event, the company has provided almost 1.1 million free health checks to people throughout the country.These events have helped countless individuals to discover that they have a health problem, including high blood pressure, diabetes signs and other potential diseases.Only last January, we reached 338,000 free checks.
An estimate of 8 million people with diabetes have not been diagnosed and, when it is not given treatment, diabetes can lead to serious health complications, including renal failures, heart disease, infarction, blindness and amputations,?Tamara Darsow, PHD, senior vice president of research and community programs for the association said.
We are excited to associate with Walmart in this initiative and we want to encourage as much as possible
of people in the United States to participate.Knowing the risk of diabetes is the first step to prevent or delay the start of type 2 diabetes.
Additional Walmart welfare days, with the American Diabetes Association, are planned for September 2017, January 2018 and spring of 2018.
