More than a hundred doctors meet today in the Almería Technological Science Park (Pita) in the first provincial diabetes days, a disease that currently affects 15 percent of the population and is associated in its type2 (the most common) to bad habits in food and lack of exercise.

In the meeting aspects such as the update of the Comprehensive Diabetes Plan in Andalusia, research on the disease or active participation of the patient in their own treatment are being analyzed.

The percentage of affected is extrapolated to the rest of the Andalusian provinces, with a million diabetes patients in the community.José María Martín, delegate of Equality, Health and Social Policies this morning in the inauguration of the sessions that diabetes is "one of the most important problems in public health, due to the personal and social implications that it entails."The Comprehensive Plan has been presented by its director in Andalusia, María Asunción Martínez Brocca, which abounded in the importance of preventing the disease through a balanced diet and the increase in physical activity.Several studies point out that doing both, diabetes decreases their appearance by up to 50%.
