The summer camp for children and young people with diabetes, organized by the Regional Murcia Federation of Diabetic Associations (FREMUD) will take place from July 13 to 16 in the house shelter Iglesias (Lorca).
It is mainly aimed at boys with diabetes between six and 15 years.Given the demand of young people with diabetes over 15 who also want to participate, they can do so supporting the team of monitors.
The main purpose of this activity is that children with diabetes learn to be more autonomous and better accept their chronic disease, although children who do not have diabetes and want to learn to improve their lifestyle can also participate, since, throughSeveral workshops that teach doctors, nurses and nutritionists, learn to improve their health, food, hygiene and prevent other diseases in addition to diabetes.
Linguistic immersion
Children will participate not only from the Region of Murcia, but of different geographical points.This camp includes linguistic immersion activities in English to help children and young people to manage stays abroad at this language.
The possibility of losing luggage or insulin in a different country in a language that they do not control can suppose distressing situations for these boys, which must be injected insulin at least 3 or 4 times a day, and it is increasingly common than the youngestMake trips abroad.
For all these reasons, Fremud wants to adapt to the times that we live and reinvent the concept of a camp for children with diabetes.It should be noted that it is the only diabetes camp in Spain that includes linguistic immersion.
Fremud encourages all children and young people with diabetes to participate "for the exquisite organization that the camp has, for professionals and monitors, all volunteers, who participate, and, above all, for the training and autonomy that the boys acquire."

On the other hand, the Federation explains that although these camps are very expensive, Fremud intends to get scholarships to maximize expenses.The symbolic price per place is 200 euros for partners and 300 euros for non -partners.
