It seems that good times arrive for the health technology industry and for what we know as digital health. In a recent study prepared by the consultant Ernst & AMP;Young ensures that more than half of the nearly 2,500 consumers surveyed feel comfortable being in contact with their doctor digitally.
The same percentage of people also claims to be using available technology, well mobile applications, telemedicine or robotics.
The main motivation factors to use digital health are the exchange of virtual data that reduces waiting times and reduction system costs, which are lower.
The Ernst & AMP survey;Young also reveals that 36% percent of consumers are interested in diagnostic tests at home, 33% are willing to use a smartphone to share data and 21% would make video consultations.
They are undoubtedly interesting data, although there is still a long way to go.If we think of diabetes, a chronic disease that needs educational support, technology and digital health becomes indispensable in the nearest horizon.
According to the Ernst & AMP survey;Young there is a general agreement between health professionals that digital health will improve patient care. Two thirds of about 350 doctors surveyed said it will reduce the load on the health system and its associated costs, and 64% believe it would help reduce the wear of the doctor and the nurse.
The survey also points out that only a quarter of consumers are interested in doctors to have access to their lifestyle habits, unless it comes with additional incentives.
But despite doubting to share information about the diet and exercise, 26% indicated that the ability to receive diet plans and custom exercise would boost their commitment.
