Prevalence and Mortality data
According to the National Media Nutrition Survey (Ensenut, 2016), it is estimated that there are 6.4 million Mexicans diagnosed with diabetes and the various epidemiological studies carried out indicate that, for each person diagnosed, there is another person suffering from the disease without knowing aboutYour condition.
Of the total diagnosed patients, it is presumed that only 25 percent have their control goals, that is, it handles adequate levels of blood glucose thanks to the pharmacological attachment and food, while the rest suffers affectations in kidneys, feet, eyes, eyes, among others.
In the month of March, the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Mexican Diabetes Federation is commemorated, which is why the 30th National Congress of the Mexican Diabetes Federation will be held from March 23 to 25.
Risk factors
For type 1 diabetes no risk factors have been established, since it is not clear why it arises, it is seen as an autoimmune disease in which there is a total lack of insulin and are 5 to 10 percent of the total cases.

What are the actions that the FMD performs?
Our function is to create controllable conditions for the patient, that is, develop skills to improve attachment to treatment, food and physical activity, as well as guide them in comorbidities and complications, not only to the patient but to caregivers.
Throughout the Republic we have the support of more than 20 associations that are responsible for sending the workshops and courses of healthy eating, how to keep patients active, how to improve attachment to treatment, they also have a children's camps program andWe also have a support program for families in vulnerability.
How does the FMD update the population?
In the next National Congress, the participation of more than 2,000 people is expected, this will take place from March 23 to 25 at the WTC of Mexico City, this congress will be responsible for gathering specialists such as endocrinologists, nephropats, neurologists, doctorsGeneral and internists, researchers, in addition to creating a space for patients and caregivers.
There will be scientific and educational program, the first for specialists in which issues such as insulin and non -insulin therapy, bariatric surgery, diabetic foot, cardiovascular diseases, depression, among others will be discussed.
The educational program will include patients and caregivers, whose axes will be, education in diabetes, treatment, insulin pumps, acute and chronic complications of diabetes and their prevention, in addition to conferences and workshops.
They will also establish discussion tables on the treatment guides, metabolic and the Ministry of Health of Mexico City will have a paper on diabetes specialized clinics and will be attended by the most important associations dedicated to diabetes, ophthalmology, nephrology, nutrition, endocrinology among others.
