All tickets are already exhausted for the fourth edition of Diabetes Experience Day, which will be held this Saturday, February 18, in the auditorium of the Carlos III University of Leganés (Madrid), and in which the participation of closeof 1,500 attendees.In its current edition, this national event will dedicate part of the program to innovation and technology, research, gastronomy and leisure.
In its research aspect, it will be addressed, among other aspects, gene therapy and the use of stem cells, since they are the paths marked by the researchers to achieve the cure of diabetes.These two advances make researchers consider that diabetes cure is getting closer.
To analyze this path in depth, Diabetes Experience Day will have the presentation of Franz Martín, coordinator of the Cyberdem Research Program and Cyberdem and Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology at Pablo Olavide University of Seville.For its part, Fatima Bosch, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and director of the Animal Biotechnology Center and gene therapy of the UA of Barcelona, will present the progress of how they have managed to completely cure type 1 diabetes in dogs through a single therapy sessiongene
In its most playful aspect, in the Diabetes Experience Day a ‘showcooking’ workshop will be held, by the hand of the prestigious chef Ramón Freixa, (two Michelin stars) that will cook live, along with Dr. Teresa Lajo.In addition, it will have, among others, the experience of Alberto García Demestres, person with type 2 diabetes, composer and tenor and creator of the first opera focused on diabetes: 'The Straordinary Vita di Sugar Blood', as well as with a humorous visionand diabetes alternative, with the biological Ricardo Moure.
Among the novelties of this edition, the Experience Day Teens Diabetes also stands out, designed for teenagers.It is raised as a participation workshop, where to listen to adolescents, accompany them and give free rein to their creativity.Children will also have their workshops in Experience Kids diabetes, focused for children between 4 and 12 years.
Likewise, a round table will be held that, under the title ‘Unmasking Dr. Google in Diabetes’, will feature the participation of Óscar López de Briñas, creator of the blog ‘Reflections of a sugary Jedi’;Gabriel Cuatrecasas, Family Doctor of Cap Sarrià and member of the Redgdps;Daria Roca, nurse and educator at the Clinic Hospital in Barcelona;and Virginia Bellido, a graduate and extraordinary prize in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela.

About Experience Day Diabetes
With social vocation, open to personal participation and relationships, the Diabetes Experience Day event aims to contribute to improving diabetes education, focusing on patients.It has been held since 2014 and has the support of the Spanish Diabetes Society (SED).Once a year, about 1,500 patients meet to share experiences and listen to experts to talk about diabetes.
Experience Day diabetes has been recognized and awarded in the second edition of the Albert Jovelll Awards forum in the category of best health journalistic work conducted by an information professional.
