After more than five years of forming the Circle of Diabetics of the Red Cross, this week the foundation of GHG Diabetic Pie Civil Association was announced, through which it is intended to support people with this condition.

This group holds people with the disease so that, led by Gerardo Hernández García, a diabetic foot specialist and founder of the project, learn about it and share testimonies every Saturday.

Hernández said that currently half of the population suffers from diabetes, but there are more that have not been diagnosed and live in ignorance, affecting their health.

"In a book that I wrote 20 years ago I mention that diabetes was becoming a health socioeconomic problem, because patients with less resources have no way of attending it," he said.

Therefore, today they will be providing informative talks at the facilities of the S-Mart Civic Center, at 5 in the afternoon.

“It is not epidemic because it is not an infectious infectious, but it is already because there is more and more.We want to implement preventive medicine, we have to make the patient understand that the specialist said.

The organization is made up of doctors from different specialties that attend the most common complications of diabetic patients.

In addition to people who have managed to cope with the disease and raise their quality of life, after having attended the weekly meetings of the Red Cross Diabetics circle, which have been offered for five years at the facilities of Henry Dunant Avenue.

The intention is to support those who have this disease and make sure they can access health services through socio -economic studies.
