The Diabetes Madrid Association has met with the Ministry of Health to request the financing of the different technologies for continuous glucose monitoring and intermittent glucose monitoring system (flash system) existing at this time for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetesInsulin -dependent according to medical criteria based on age, the state of control of diabetes and personal circumstances (pregnancy, frequent hypoglycemia ...).
“For years people with diabetes are waiting for diabetes related technology to develop to be able to carry the disease with greater control.In the case of those people with diabetes who must take several blood samples or prick insulin several times a day, new technologies significantly improve their diabetes and reduce the number of punctures improving their present and future quality of life. ”Juan Manuel Gómez Moreno, president of the Diabetes Madrid Association explains.
“Technology is already prepared to be used.You just have to have access to it. "Gomez adds.

“The investment in these continuous and intermittent glucose monitoring systems implies an investment that will reduce short -term costs due to hospital admissions due to serious and/or recurring hypoglycemia;and in the long term for the costs of possible complications, ”adds Martínez.
The Diabetes Madrid Association, the Association of Diabetics and Cardiopaths of Pinto, Adddeisa, Transdiabetes and Nights without sleep (these last two groups of people with diabetes, their family and friends) have joined the campaign to collect paper signatures and throughof the Change.org platform to support this request that has won 30,000 signatures today.
