The Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE) on Tuesday has launched a campaign of accession to the petition that the group has made to the figure of the Ombudsman against the labor discrimination suffered by people with diabetes when it comes to accessing certainPublic administration jobs.
It is, as explained by the Federation, of a pioneering initiative in Spain that the entity has decided to launch after having recently met with the Ombudsman.
The petition is based on legal and medical reports of scientific societies such as thirst and semean(Semergen).
Both organizations have endorsed and recognized in writing the need to update the current medical exclusion cadres, which governs the offer of public employment (both local and autonomic and national), since “health advances are not yet contemplated,Technicians and training that, today, allow self -control and normal development of professional activities such as police bodies, firefighters or auxiliary fire drivers, by people with diabetes ”.
Individual valuations
The sensitivity shown by the Ombudsman encouraged Fede to launch this accession campaign.The Federation also asks that each case be valued individually: "That the type of diabetes, treatment and glycemic control is taken into account to define whether or not a person is suitable for that job."
