They announced the results of the awareness campaign carried out in Gualeguaychú - within the framework of World Diabetes Day - by 3rd and 4th year students of the degree in Nutrition and coordinated by teachers Mónica Paneth and Laura Peruzzo of the Facultyof Uner Bromatology.
The results obtained based on what is referred to in the questionnaire made to each of the attendeing participants:
-The 73% were women and 27% men.
-In these, 17% are people with diabetes and 83% people without diabetes.
-On the other hand, 34% have arterial hypertension (HT) and 66% have no HT.
- According to the distribution of the population according to different pathologies: 55% have arterial hypertension, 17% are people with diabetes, 31% are people with overweight and obesity, and 4% are people with dyslipidemias.
In this sense, this institution has been carried out for eleven consecutive years, an awareness campaign that aims to prevent type 2 diabetes in the general population and prevent complications in people who have diabetes of which around 130 people in our city participated.Talks were developed in the "San Isidro" and "La Cuchilla" health centers in the waiting rooms, as well as activities were carried out in the SUM of the Faculty of Bromatology, among which they stood out:
-blood pressure and blood glucose measures.
-Evaluation of the individual risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
-Recorrido of news posters on diabetes (symptoms, risk factors, complications, etc.)
-Visites to two informative stands: No. 1 ¨Desayunos, snacks and diabetes.N ° 2 lunches, dinners and diabetes.
It should be noted that this campaign is part of the theme of chronic noncommunicable diseases (ECNT), in this case diabetes, which although the cure has not yet been discovered, is detectable and treatable, which leads to the realization of importantprevention activities in which the Faculty of Bromatology of the Uner works year after year to provide education, support and learning in food management, as fundamental tools in the treatment that must be carried out and bring the community closer to the community the communityknowledge and updates.
