The Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE) has delivered the II edition of the Fede-Mercedes Sánchez Benito Awards in which the best diabetes initiatives carried out by patient associations have been recognized.Some awards to which 47 candidates of 29 associations and federations, and of which four initiatives launched by the associations of patients of Zaragoza, Cartagena, Navarra and Granada have been chosen.
Specifically, in the health and quality of life section, the award has been for the Adezaragoza, Zaragoza Association, for its 'Diabetological and Support Training campaign in educational centers'.It is a program that defends that the quality of life of children with diabetes goes through normalization in all the activities and facets of their life.
Likewise, the 'Sports and Physical Activity Prize' has fallen to Sodicar, Association of Cartagena (Murcia), for its project 'III Solidarity Route of the Sentinels', which has been launched with the aim of giving visibility to theDiabetes joining sports, diabetes and the Fiestas de Carthaginians and Romans.On this occasion, the chosen route was 62 kilometers and recalled the history of the Carthaginians who occupied the surveillance towers along the coast and who tried to warn the inhabitants of Qart Hadot of the arrival of the Romans.
The award in the category of 'Adherence Projects' has been for Anadi, Association of Navarra, for its project 'Taking us', a program based on the active participation of the beneficiary collective as protagonists of its own change and evolution.In addition, it is a coordinated and community initiative, since it pursues the involvement of all agents likely to intervene with the beneficiary collective.
In the 'New Technologies and Innovation' section, the prize has fallen to Galizi, Association of Granada, for its project 'di@Béticos', which aimed to contribute and facilitate patients with diabetes relevant and essential information to carry outAn adequate control of diabetes making a correct use of new technologies, because today, more than ever, the day to day is marked by ICT.
Finally, Fede has recognized the dedication and effort of all those who have presided over the organization in these three decades of history: Salvador Palomo, who was the first president and the person who launched the Federation, Santiago Prats, Estanislao Narbaiza, Federico, FedericoSánchez, Rafael Sánchez and Ángel Cabrera.All of them have been given a commemorative award for this 30th anniversary.
