“This is the only unity of this type in Madrid's private health. In it we work in a coordinated way endocrinologists, nephrologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, vascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and nurses specialized in diabetes and education, ”said Dr. García Durruti.
It was the doctor herself who explained that in the Diabetes Unit, 200 patients are treated per month, of which 15 percent are new patients, either because they have been diagnosed recently or because they come from other centers.
“The most novel is the increase in the activity of educating nurses, who pay personalized attention to each patient in person, by telephone or by email. Thanks to their wide availability and accessibility, they offer invaluable support to patients at the beginning of the diagnosis or when circumstances such as pregnancy or the treatment of another disease arise. This, without a doubt, has reversed in greater adherence to the treatment and in an improvement of the metabolic control objectives, ”said García Durruti.
