When we talk about adding steps or going for a walk, it is highly recommended for people with diabetes, journalists usually think of elderly. However, a recent study reminded us that for children with type 1 diabetes, going out to pass is also a highly recommended activity. It seems of but grullo but it is good that it is remembered from time to time.
For children with type 1 diabetes, go for a walk frequently or the number of daily steps is also associated with early signs of atherosclerosis and adverse cardiovascular risks according to a study recently published in the online version of Diabetes Care.
The origin of the study
The study arises from the information that children with type 1 diabetes report lower levels of physical activity than recommended at the University of Australia.Jemma Anderson is a researcher at the University of Adelaida in Australia, and together with his colleagues they examined the impact on vascular health and the level of steps or times that children with diabetes decided to go for a walk.
Ninety children with type 1 diabetes were included in the study;88 carried a bracelet to measure the levels of physical activity and their steps for a whole day.
The researchers discovered that 55 percent of children carried out less than 10,000 steps per day. They also discovered that there was a correlation between the average and maximum thickness of the intimate-media aorta and the average number of steps per day. There was an average decrease of 0.0082 / 0.0093 mm with an increase of 1,000 steps per day.The correlation was independent of variables such as age, glycosylated hemoglobin, body mass index, blood pressure and blood lipid levels.
An increase of 1,000 steps per day correlates with a lower cardiovascular risk concluded.Going out to pass that frequency is demonstrated once again to reduce weight, blood pressure, and triglycerides, and now we know that also in children.
"Our results emphasize the importance of including the advice of the benefits of exercises as simple as going for a walk in routine education for children with type 1 diabetes," the authors write.
From Canal Diabetes we propose that parents and children together add the routines to walk in their treatment and in their life. The health of both will improve considerably.
