The Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE) has requested from the Ministry of Health the inclusion of the Glucose Monitoring Flash System in the basic services portfolio of the National Health System (SNS), in view of the positive recommendations in this regard, both of bothThe Spanish Network of Health Technologies Evaluation Agencies such as the Diabetes Advisory Council of the Basque Country, which support and justify said request.
This technology allows, today, to reduce the number of daily punctures to which a person with diabetes has to be subjected to know their glucose levels;and reduce the risk of hypoglycemia, as well as other health complications associated with poor medium and long -term diabetes control.
"He has shown that he contributes qualitatively to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes" in this regard and during this meeting, the president of Fede, Andoni Lorenzo has justified the head of the basic portfolio of services of the SNS and pharmacy, incarnationCruz, the need to incorporate this technology because "it has shown that it contributes qualitatively to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes."

For its part, Cruz has transferred to FEDE representatives who, today, this issue is one of the priorities of the department that coordinates, therefore one of the issues that will be addressed at the next meeting of the Performance Commission, after which the representatives of people with diabetes will be located again, to know the progress in this regard.In the words of Andoni Lorenzo, “in this meeting we have verified the willingness of the public administration to take the step and incorporate this innovation that people with diabetes have been claiming for months.However, we want this decision to be made as soon as possible, due to the demand that the patient collective is doing, especially for children with diabetes. ”
