The controversy due to the impediments that children with diabetes were when entering their snack on the cinema gave rise to a meeting held two bands between the councilor do popo and the representatives of Cinexpo.
The meeting took place at the request of the institution and after several parents and organizations denounced the situation, which affects theaters of Orense, Pontevedra and Vigo.
During the meeting, both parties agreed that the access of diabetic minors and other people with medical and food needs "must be carried out in safety conditions and guaranteeing the rights of these people."
As an idea to solve the conflict, the courage opted for people with specific needs to accredit it to those responsible for the control of access to cinemas so that their entry with food "is proportional to the needs of those affected to avoid possible crises".
In this way episodes would be solved such as those described by a group of parents who, when trying to access their children's snack to the rooms they found the sharp sharp by the direction of the cinemas. In some cases, they even had problems for the money from the entry to be reimbursed.According to the tutors, the little ones carried two cookies or a yogurt, foods that they need to maintain their blood sugar levels and that must ingest at a certain hour."They told me that we could not pass with the backpack because I could stain the armchair with the yogurt and then who was going to clean it," explained a mother affected to ABC.
From the Association of Children with Diabetes de Galicia (Anedia) criticized that this measure is "abusive" and reproached the lack of arguments by companies. For its part, the Union of Consumers of Galicia (UCG) indicated that "prohibiting the entry of the foods they need is a discriminatory practice and, at the health level, negligent to the extreme."Incidents with the access of food and sugar meters of diabetic minors were limited to Orense, Pontevedra and Vigo.In Salas de Santiago and Lugo, users indicated that they did not find any impediment.
