The Maimonides Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) is currently developing more than 20 studies related to the improvement of the quality of life of diabetic patients and the control of the disease through new therapies and changes in lifestyle,among which the diet plays a fundamental role.
The president of the Spanish Diabetes Federation, Andoni Lorenzo, accompanied by the president of the Association for Diabetes de Córdoba (Addator), Claudia Medina, visited the Institute yesterday, where she has known the research activity that is carried out, which includes, which includesAnalysis of the effectiveness of different drugs in the disease, as well as studies of the effects of food consumption, as part of therapies that contribute to reducing the consequences of diabetes mellitus.
The scientific director of IMIBIC, Justo P. Castaño, emphasizes that “our goal is to provide advances in the knowledge of endocrine and metabolic diseases with special attention to diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome and carry out transfer and translation actions to clinical practice forthat patients benefit as soon as possible from the results of the studies ».
