The Paseo Pharmacy and the Gandia Diabetes Association launch the ‘challenge of the ton’

The 24 -hour Paseo Pharmacy, in Gandia, and the Association of Diabetics of Gandia and the Safor have launched the “challenge of the ton”, a campaign against obesity.Those interested in reducing weight may register and for 30 days pharmacists will advise them to get their ideal weight, following simple healthy lifestyle.
In the end, the kilos that are left over among all participants will be added.The organizers trust to reach 1,000 kilos, a figure that will become a donation of non -perishable foods for the most needy.
Registration will be in the same pharmacy.The deadline ends on June 24, and the price is two euros per person.The collection for this concept will go to the Association of Diabetics of Gandia and the Safor, for its social purposes.On the other hand, the pharmacy will raffle a lot of beauty products, for the or the graceful.
The initiative has the collaboration of the Gandia City Council framed in the “Gandia, healthy city” program.In the last municipal plenary, an institutional declaration was approved unanimously to raise awareness about the problem of diabetes.It will be tried that teachers, local and health personnel, among others participate in the campaign.
The campaign was presented last Tuesday, May 16, in an act attended by the manager of the Paseo 24h, Jesús Herráiz, the president of the Association, Antonio Román, and municipal representatives.In it, a tent was installed on the Germanies walk to inform and at the same time do a glycemia test to the interested parties.

Antonio Román pointed out that obesity is a risk factor for contracting diabetes, "but with a little exercise and eating healthy, which does not mean diet, you can reduce the risk of diabetes."Román added that these messages must be instilled especially to the little ones.
For his part, Jesús Herráiz valued that there is a greater social and political awareness on these issues, and pointed out that this initiative also rewards "effort, constancy, willpower, sacrifice, and solidarity."
