This initiative is celebrated virtually all communities and most of them have already opened the registration period, which can be consulted on the Fede website, which advises to register minors in them from 7-8 years.
The objective is to offer diabetological education and tools through which minors can acquire gradually independence regarding the management of their pathology, outside the security environment that their home and parents provide them.
At the same time, they offer the opportunity to have fun and enjoy a few days of leisure, while living and sharing experiences with other children with diabetes.
In addition, according to Fede, they are an interesting alternative for the summer time because "they are developed in an environment adapted to the ailment, in which learning on diabetes is facilitated, and such necessary issues are encouraged for those who suffer from it, such as practiceof physical exercise or the importance of adequate food. "
These types of camps were launched almost 50 years and a half century later, they are still "an increasingly settled practice" that support parents and recommend the health professionals themselves, since patients are "first -hand aware" that others that othersChildren of their age also have diabetes, which helps them normalize the pathology.
