The UCO develops the first day of awareness and information on the disease, within the collaboration agreement signed by the University and the Diabetes Association of Córdoba.
The university wants to make visible the problem of people with diabetes.
Looking face -to -face, in positive, this is the name of the first day organized by the University of Córdoba and by the Association for Diabetes de Córdoba (Addative), held last week, to raise awareness and make visible the problems of the people sufferingDiabetes in the university environment, as well as helping in their research and treatment through the media that the University of Córdoba and Imibic can contribute to the cause, within the field of research.
This initiative arises from parents with a child suffering from diabetes.Francisco Jurado and his wife, both administration personnel at the University of Córdoba raised the idea of proposing a collaboration agreement between the UCO and addition, something "accepted with great interest," says Francisco, "a loop so that there is always aresearch route ».
His 11 -year -old son, and who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes with 7 years, thus became the main reason why parents have managed to unite these two institutions.«We are still in diapers, type 1 diabetes is less common, although it is majority in the children's environment.But type 2 is much more common, surely there are more patients in the university environment than what is believed, ”says Francisco.
"We emphasize the information, it is essential to have this disease for prevention of it and bring a good quality of life," says Francisco, highlighting that "type 1 diabetes is not only to inject insulin, butAlso leading a healthy life or sports, this information is very important ».
Therefore, from addition and in collaboration with the University of Córdoba, they are working through this agreement to promote joint work in the development of scientific, technical, cultural and academic activities, to be carried out in the departments of the UCO at the addictor's facilities, in addition to the social promotion of research, among other activities.
On the other hand, and in collaboration with the IMIBIC, this association is immersed in a European project, called Power2DM, oriented to people with type 2 diabetes, to create a self -control application of these patients provided by addition.
This project has several venues in different parts of Europe, and thanks to these patients, Córdoba is set as one of them.All for the awareness of this "less known" disease.
