In Spain they have not sold cartridges for a long time, what they give us are packs with 5 plastic bolis to use and throw that they already carry the insulin and when they end, you throw it whole.
En 1922 descubrieron la insulina, en 1930 la insulina lenta. ¿Que c*** han hecho desde entonces?
Trying to answer your questions, to what has already told you @sherpa41 I can only add that the amount of insulin, or rather of u insulin varies, there are now more concentrated insulins (such as Toujeo).Security mechanisms There are none, it applies the doses you have marked. The duration of the bowling is also different for each person.
Here it also costs to find endocrine that are well informed, know the MCG, the insulin pumps available ...
Currently if there is a ball with cartridge, those of half Apidra units at least if they are like that, before the pump I used it.
What I don't know if there are different bolis for each brand or if there are only Apidra

There are Apidra and Lsntud on rechargeable cartridges. My 3 -year -old hijs uses them for the half doses.Security is in RL Boli, which does not allow more than the marked dose. The hard cartridge depending on the dose that is urilized and the times that is click. It is very relative.
Greetings
And of Novorapid there are also half doses because my daughter uses her that they were now sent, it also goes with rechargeable cartridges, on the security issue it is how others have told you, it is the amount you put in the ball. The other insulins that are placed that is Levemir, Actrapid and Novorapid are to use and throw and come in boxes of 5.
And the dose varies according to glycemia, so the duration of each ball will depend on the doses you put.I believe if I am not mistaken the cartridges are 200 ml.

Thank you very much for their contributions, very surprised by the kind and fast answers.
I am in Uruguay, maybe here we are somewhat late with the theme of cartridges and insulins.
The following doubts arise, is the treatment very expensive?or the insurance covers them? How does that work in Spain?
And can a general practitioner make the recipe for insulins to buy in pharmacies or do you have to be just the endocrinologist specialist?- I suppose the regulation will be different in each country but out of curiosity I ask
@Kinosa, I summarize everything a bit:
The 1st, measure that we use to put the doses are called units, each one puts X units, which needs depending on what glucose values we have and that we go to eat. Here in Spain we have 2 types of bowling or feathers, some rechargeable with cartridges, which are usually used to dose half units, especially for pediatric patients or patients very sensitive to insulin and then there are disposables that are the ones we normally use.
The disposables bring 3ml of insulin with 100 units per milliliter (U/ml), I mean that each ball would have 300 units.
Here is the 5 penal presentation format per box.
The duration will depend on the units that each one needs daily.
Regarding prices, rapid insilins (Acrapid, Novorapid, Apidra, Humalog) range over € 50 and slow (Lantus, Levemir, Tresiba, Toujeo) over the € 70-89 per box. Here in Spain they are financed and Venims to pay about € 5 per box.
It can be prescribed both the endocrine and the header.
I hope I have solved the doubts
