15% of the population is at risk of type 2 diabetes in the next decade, according to the Diabetes Foundation.This disease will be the center of the activities that the City Council of Alcalá has organized on the occasion of the Health Fair, which is celebrated from April 6 to 9.
Under the motto ‘Diabetes: We protect our future’, the Councilor for Health, Diana Díaz, has presented these days that will begin this Wednesday with a conference at the Municipal Health Center, on diabetes in children and adolescents.
On Thursday a day of sports activities will take place in the Oidor chapel, starting at 11 am.At 4:30 p.m. a healthy walk will be held through the streets of Alcalá to promote active life against sedentary lifestyle.
Two hours later a round table will take place to address the issue of diabetes, in which primary care professionals, the Prince of Asturias hospital or the Alcalá Diabetics Association will participate.
On Friday 8, starting at 4 pm, the fan opens to the rest of the diseases and will be installed in the Plaza de Cervantes different informative tables that will treat different pathologies -
To close, on Saturday it turns with children and young people.First with a wink (11:30 am at the Municipal Health Center) so that the little ones in the house become aware of how important a good diet is.And later, within another way of moving, Zumba Life will take place, ‘You do for your health’.
Díaz emphasized that one of the fundamental objectives of this health fair will be to "make visible the disease, as well as implement the forums in which associations participate."
