Diabetes is a disease that remains present in Mexican families.More and more children and adults are diagnosed with this condition, although the health sector carries out prevention campaigns on healthy food.
It is estimated that at least 6 million 464 thousand 800 Mexicans over 20 years have been diagnosed as diabetic patients, a figure equivalent to 9.4% of the total population, according to the National Health and Nutrition Survey of Half -Way2016).
The nutritionist and Health Coach (Health Counselor), Mahetzi Mancilla Romero, explained that poor diet is mainly affecting children under 12 years of age, in greater quantity who has a family history of diabetics.
He stressed that in his particular case, he attends to two children in his office monthly because the statistics are increasingly alarming and that before the age of 14, there are already diabetic teenagers.
“From children, adolescents and adults suffer from this. Now the attention is focusing on children because if it is already prediabetic by dad or mom and with the poor diet they carry, it ends up fully affected and before the age of 12, it is already diabetic. It is from an early age that is being presented, ”he said.
He argued that if the statistics of five years ago said that 5 out of 10 people were diabetic, there are now 6 out of 10 people are or are prone to the disease.
He affirmed that the government has very good problems to combat diabetes, however, "it is they sell you otherwise and do not regulate stores in schools because they still sell fried and soft drinks."What they should do is not allow it and offer fruits and seeds for children and young people.
