Never before had it been done, for the first time in Spain, this past summer took place in several places in geography, health workshops and emotional support for young people with type 1 diabetes. Through the Diguan project, more than 200 adolescents are going to campsThey participated in this unique and very necessary experience. The results on the study of the emotions caused by diabetes in personal, social and treatment environments have just been published in several prestigious magazines. This is the link to consult.

The “Diguan project leaves camps” was taught in 12 autonomous communities with the collaboration of Fede and Sanofi.21 everyday situations pre -established by experts were addressed: 7 related to treatment and self -control, 7 with parents and the family environment;and another 7 with friends and social relations.

A wonderful table formed by Diabetes Daria Roca, psychologists Iñaki Lorente and Gemma Peralta, and adolescent Irene Domínguez, approached the experience and took out a series of very interesting conclusions about the emotions of the kids with diabetes.

The first, the need for a psychology professional to be present in the care and control of diabetes.A necessary claim when experts say that diabetes affects diabetes emotions and emotions. If both results are controlled in the control of everything are better.

The study on emotions focused on the positive and negative that were generated in 3 different scenarios. In the treatment of the disease, in the social environment/friends and in the family environment.

The most outstanding emotions in positive in treatment were the confidence that generates insulin and the joy of practicing sports. With respect to negatives, laziness, fear or anxiety of having to calculate hydrates, to become specific reviews and capillary blood glucose.

In the social environment, the positive ones focused on being with friends and joint exits, while the negatives were located in having to explain that you have diabetes, in hypoglycemia when you are having fun with friends or when you have to make a hair glycemia.

The family environment also generates confidence and joy in the interest of the family or joint actions, but anger when the family says what you have to do constantly. In that sense, the message for parents is to be less police officers according to Iñaki Lorente. That is, but not intervene.

Although the main conclusion and message is that you have to talk about it, about feelings. The more communication there is much better for everyone.
