The State Elderly Center, CEAM, began the School for Diabetic Patients, the program will continue the actions that were carried out during 2016 that was decreed as a year of the fight against diabetes, since the population that has this condition requiresA monitoring for his control, said the Secretary of Health, Jorge Verástegui.
The school is aimed at people who are sick of diabetes and their relatives, so that they undergo an educational process that will allow them to better know the condition and how to treat it.
The school for diabetic patients began with a group of 20 patients and their families, who once a week will meet so that CEAM staff gives them diverse thematic about diabetes.
Among the issues that will be addressed is the basic information on diabetes such as its symptoms, myths and realities, how a diagnosis, appropriate treatments and prevention are made.
Jorge Charvel Ochoa, head of the Health Research Department and responsible for the program, commented that these sessions will be held for three months, the meetings will be held once a week and will be a multidisciplinary team of nutritionists, psychologists and doctors who will accompany thepatients in this process.
