Solidarity feat to make visible a disease that affects 15 percent of the Jiennense population.Miguel Ángel Palomino, from Jaén, is a sports monitor that moved by fraternity, has decided to undertake a challenge that will take him from Almería to Portugal to raise awareness about diabetes disease and make it visible.
It is not your first experience.A few months ago he toured almost seven hundred kilometers with the purpose of insufflating Hope to Celia Garrido, the girl who suffers factor V deficit, a rare disease for which there is no treatment today.
On that occasion, the challenge did it by bicycle, now he will do it again but on foot - he accompanied by his pet, Kenya - for a pathology that affects a large number of Jienneses.
“I am quite aware of diabetes, it is an issue that touches many of my relatives, my best friend's daughters are diabetic.I know all the problems that it entails and what happens, and the need for financing to investigate more about the cause, so I thought I could contribute my grain of sand, ”says Palomino.
The tour will leave from Vera, in Almeria and cross all Andalusia to lead in Portugal."There are about seven hundred kilometers and I hope to do them in a maximum of ten days," he adds, and adds: "What I try to claim is that people who suffer this problem are helped, to raise awareness of society that diabetes is not a four thing of four”Explains the athlete.
Through this challenge, it is also intended to disseminate the importance that, within the treatment of diabetes, it has physical exercise, as well as a way to break barriers and demonstrate that diabetes does not set limits but that the limits are putsame."I recently read, in a study, which said that by 2030 it is expected that diabetes will be the second cause of death in the world, so I think that people know it better is important," Palomino emphasizes.
The intention of the Jiennense is to make the route at the beginning of next year.At the moment, with the collaboration of the Association of Diabetics of Jaén, the objective is that the different provincial groups join the initiative, to achieve maximum dissemination in the places it visits.
Likewise, he says, it will not be the second and only challenge he does.Miguel Ángel Palomino intends to develop, every year, a different challenge.He will do it through his Quixocan solidarity project.An initiative that whose purpose is the awareness of society through solidarity "goals" based on sports and healthy lifestyle.The project owes its name to Kenya, the gauge that Miguel Ángel Palomino collected from the street and that has become his training and life partner.
