Having a good diabetes treatment does not only focus on medicines, it also includes food, social and cultural elements, with this premise, researchers from the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) evaluate biopsychosocial factors associated with the automation and control ofThe disease.
The project developed by the Academic Corps of Evaluation and Transdisciplinary Intervention of the UAEH consists in identifying social, cultural and psychological aspects to try to explain the self -finished behaviors that people with diabetes have and from this creating specific interventions that help the patient.
“Psychological variables are affected by the country's culture, many of the studies that have been made of diabetes are from the United States or Europe.Unfortunately we do not know for sure the role that Mexican culture in diabetes has, although we have knowledge we have not been able to measure it with scientific mechanisms, ”said Psychology Doctor Arturo del Castillo Arreola, leader of the project.
Therefore, multidisciplinary research seeks to determine aspects of the disease such as the emotional part, anxiety and sadness, or follow up on dietary patterns, while maintaining collaboration with nurses, nutritionists and psychologists.
The way in which the family faces the condition is also focused on the social part and provides support to the patient, because the family breast can contribute to the failure or achievement of the treatment.
Dr. Arturo del Castillo Arreola explained that it is sought to have validated evidence in November of this year and with the results propose the intervention in patients of health centers of the state of Hidalgo.
The work team is made up of Dr. Rebeca Guzmán Saldaña, Angélica Romero Palencia, Gloria Solano Solano and Dr. Arturo del Castillo Arreola. In addition, there is a collaboration with the Academic Corps of Clinical Nutrition and Chronic Non -Transmissible Diseases of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo.
