As of July 13, the Pediatric Diabetes Foundation will carry out a summer camp for children and young people for the second consecutive year.“The Foundation will be offering a cost free camp for children with type I diabetes.

The camp, which will be offered at the Ponceño College is part of the objective of the foundation to provide the necessary tools to diabetic children so that they can live a life like any other child of their age. ”The President of the Board of Directors of the El Mr. Julio Colón Board announced.

The camp combines education in terms of diabetes, with exercises, multiple activities and a lot of fun.The requirements to participate are, being type I diabetic patient, being between the ages of 6 to 17 and having many desires to enjoy a fun and educational experience in a healthy environment, of friendship and respect.

Camp participants can enjoy diversity of sporting and pre-sports events, educational talks and diabetes, as well as fun excursions and other surprises.The camp will take place from July 13 to 17 from 7:30 a.m.at 3:30 p.m.

The Pediatric Diabetes Foundation is a non -profit entity founded in 2000 whose services are offered free of charge to diabetic patients from the entire island.Currently the Foundation has alliances with 21 hospitals in Puerto Rico and has offices in Ponce, San Juan and Aguadilla.

Mr. Julio Colón added that “Puerto Rico occupies one of the first places, worldwide, in cases of type I pediatric diabetes, for this reason the Foundation has been given the task of developing an educational and support program directedDiabetic children and adolescents, their relatives and teachers and all services are offered for free. ”
