Around 50 patients and workers of the Diabetes Clinic of the Zapata I Health Center, located in the Emiliano Zapata de Acapulco neighborhood, demonstrated this Thursday due to the lack of medicines and the damage of the facilities, which have not been repaired since theHurricane Manuel Paso in 2013.
They pointed out that both the municipal government, as well as the health jurisdiction 07, have ignored the requests made by the employees of the health center.
Margarita Salas, in charge of the clinic and diabetes specialist, said they have come to all corresponding instances, without so far having obtained any response.
He explained that the demonstration was carried out at the request of the patients themselves, who know that in each rainy season up to 15 daily buckets are filled with the leaks that exist the roof, which is at risk of collapsing.
“That is why the intervention was born by the patients attended, they wonder what they are going to do with these facilities in very bad conditions.Everything gets wet and it is not a pleasant place to be receiving consultation in a place that lacks everything, which is why we decided to get the attention of the authorities, ”said Salas Lucena.
Given this situation, he added that the didactic talks that are performed for patients and relatives cannot even be performed, because the material gets wet.
The clinic also serves inhabitants of various colonies and communities, such as Llano Largo, Carabalí, Pueblo Nuevo;which generates that the clinic cannot be supplied with the number of patients.
"We have around 180 to 200 patients we have in the cardboard, and of personnel we are just now four: that she is in charge, the person in charge of nursing, the psychologist and the nutritionist, who just added as a new element,"commented.
He also said that patients with diabetes attending go from 13 years to 75 years of age.
