60 Extremaduran children will enjoy next Sunday of the 2016 Summer Camp organized by FADEX (Federation of Associations of Persons with Extremadura Diabetes) aims to help children and adolescents correctly manage their diabetes, in a playful and coexistence environment.
To the Fadex camp that this year is celebrated in the town of Monesterio, there are kids of ages between 8 and 17 years and, according to their needs, activities adapted to each stage will be carried out: from children who will learn to prick the insulin to young people to young peoplethat will determine the dose of insulin depending on the physical activity they are going to perform.
Aspects related to food, self -analysis, responses to a drastic rise or decrease in sugar level ... and, as a novelty, this year, this year Emotional Health Workshops will be included by Susana Rico Psychologist expert in Diabetes and Coordinatorof Fadex.
It is definitely about working all those aspects, tools and resources that help them with the best control of their diabetes, which will enhance their autonomy, their safety and their confidence in any situation.All this in a playful framework in which they are going to live their diabetes normally, living with colleagues with whom to share experiences, while enjoying a few days of full fun as it corresponds to any kid of their age.
During the development of the camp, children will be permanently accompanied by young volunteers belonging to Ajudex, the Youth Association of Diabetics of Extremadura, in addition to a health team provided by the Extremadura Health Service.
In order to carry out this summer camp, Fadex has had the sponsorship and/or collaboration of the SES, the Provincial Council of Badajoz, the Institute of Youth of Extremadura, BD, ABBOTT, Menarini, Sanex, Medtronic, Sanofi and Janssen, in addition to Ajudex and the thirteen associations of Diabetics of Extremadura belonging to Fadex.
