The Minister of Health, Faustino Blanco, and the Director General of Public Health, Julio Bruno, have visited on Tuesday the Camp of Children with Diabetes that the Association of Diabetics of the Principality of Asturias (ASDIPAS) celebrates this year from July 4 to 13at the Avelina de Cangas Hotel de Onís.

As reported by the Ministry in a press release, 42 minors between 9 and 16 years, 39 of them with diabetes, from Asturias, Canarias, Galicia, La Rioja and Castilla y León participate in this fourth edition.

During the visit, the counselor explained that this pioneering program in Asturias is developed by the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service of the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA), in collaboration with the Pediatrics Service of the San Agustín de Avilés and Asdipas Hospital.

The playful-educational activity also has the guarantees of Spanish diabetes societies;Endocrinology and nutrition, and the Spanish Association of Pediatrics.

Blanco has highlighted the importance of initiatives such as this, which allow children to receive the necessary medical and dietary training to guarantee a normalized and autonomous life.In addition, he thanked the work of educators, doctors and pediatricians working in the camp.
