Natural treatment or an alternative approach x diabetes2

zumo123's profile photo   06/21/2015 4:54 a.m.

Hello.I have read many posts here and many answers are based on allopathic medicine and I have not seen any natural remedies- except the one I wrote about green juice.I would like to open the subject because it seems very important and see if I can help someone, and if others can enrich me with their experiences and knowledge.

First the problem. It is common to read or listen that diabetes2 is growing. And the question is and what to do to avoid growing and for those who already have it, avoid their many degenerative effects?

Diabetes2 seems to be associated with hypercalical consumption, particularly simple carbohydrates and sugars, and sedentary lifestyle. In my personal experience, heems perfectly in the profile. Many years of junk food, little exercise and a lot of stress.Diagnosed with insulin resistance, prediabetes and diabetes.Ha!Now that I have diabetes openly gave me the coconut that I do not want to follow that path of blindness, amputations, heart attack etc.And from there my interest, like the rest of those here, in all the tools that can help me control and improve my health status.

I started with Janumet and I was happy because "I could eat everything", but I also started to educate myself about diabetes - from different approaches and realized that this was a safe recipe for the disease to advance.Medicine becomes insufficient and damage continues.

I greatly reduced food consumption, particularly sugars which was a huge fight because the brain did not warn me when I was satisfied, and the desire for sugars was very large.I was surprised how little I could eat compared to the great previous dishes and the chopper all day.I started regular exercise and stayed with metformin alone.

I discovered the green juice (a particular recipe that has sat me very well) that added to regular exercise and medicine have maintained stable prediabetes.A hypocaloric diet has been important (I do not count the calories, it is that consumes of vegetables and fruits, replacing flours and others). It is a fight.Discipline is required.Doing those things the blood pressure is in 78/115 or 80/120, the sugar in 110 on an empty stomach and less than 140 post -transial, while when I abandon, my glucose and blood pressure rise again, and unpleasant symptoms return. The wonderful thing is that doing those things I'm quite good!

I suspect that blood sugar is a symptom and should not be what treatment, but should go to the cause.I suspect that when the sugar is already high the damage is done: the pancreas had to work too much and lost the battle.(or the liver) and is a pancreas that will last less.I am almost 60 years old and I would like more years of good functional health.

I'm looking for herbs and proven foods to help. For me the green juice for example, it is not something that people say, but it is very proven that glucose and high pressure lower me and that gives me other additional palpable benefits.

Well, that is my personal recipe: dense nutrient and hypocaloric food, regular exercise, fasting green juice and until now metformin, but I started trying diabecon.

Contributions of natural things are appreciated that you personally have tried that they work.

Very good,

The exercise and controlling the sugars is something that the endocrine should have told you (although they do not always), I also agree with you that in general we eat less fruits and vegetables that we should, however, the hypocaloric dietsIn addition to presenting the danger of suffering hypoglycemia, it has been shown that they can become an obstacle when losing weight consumer.es/web/es/alimentacion/aprender_a_comer_bien/adulto_y_vejez/2010/05/14/193062.php

I think you will not find anyone to think that medicine only has to treat symptoms, obviously the cure of diabetes will not reach until it is necessary to know how to regenerate the damaged pancreas and protect it so that diabetes does not appear again, in that theyscientists throughout the planet, but it is not precisely easy.

Be very careful with that of "natural", the "natural" for a human being is to achieve at most 30 years of age and that in the best case.By the way do you know what name the "alternative medicines" receive when they prove to be effective?"medicine".

Before putting ourselves at diet at our own risk, it is better to go to a doctor who offers us some guidelines to follow (especially if you suffer diabetes), lest the better level to the cost of annoying other things and in the end you have to deal withWith more diseases.

Thanks for answering with_q_de_quimica.I have already noticed that here in this forum they are not followers of "the natural" for calling it in some way.I liked what you say that "alternative medicines" when effective are called medicines.Excellent! And what medicines do you know, which is the object of my post?

The Gingko Biloba, for example, is endorsed by the Ministry of Health of my country and my cardiologist told me that it is well to take it.

In this health there are very extreme positions as if anyone was the owner of the whole truth - which is not so.The "hypocaloric" that you question, ... is that things mustHE.

In any case I have no interest in entering controversies. All I want is to improve my own health -and if you can connect with someone, because good ... if not, not.

For my part I do not try to create any controversy, precisely the wonderful of forums such as these is to change opinions, experiences, information ... and it is not necessary to agree in everything 100%.

To cite a couple of examples of what I mean that when an "alternative medicine" proves to be effective, it is called "medicine" we can talk about codeine (widely used among other things for cough) and aspirin:
Codeine is extracted from opium, there are legal crops from that plant destined to the production of the drug, once the plant is at the right point, the co -dealer is separated from the rest of the substances that compose it and are used to create the drugs, ¿Is it better that a person with coughing is dedicated to smoking opium because it is "the natural"?
From the sauce cortex, salicylic acid can be used, it has many properties but it is very irritating to the stomach, so it is transformed into acetylsalicylic acid, which has the same properties but is much less irritating to the stomach. Is it better to take sauce cortex and change a headache for gastritis because it is "natural?

And examples like that are everywhere, as I put in another post the insulin that today is injected all the planet diabetics has its origin in transgenic bacteria. It is not about being or not being "owner of the truth" as you say, it is simply and plainly study and experiment, if a person says that substance X has beneficial effects for ailment and has only to prove it in aserious clinical study.

On the hypocaloric diet it is not me who questions it, it does that do those who have done clinical studies in this regard, but with a hypocaloric diet you do not refer to what everyone understands by hypocaloric diets but to your own definition of hypocaloric diet then notYou can apply to what you say, (but I would appreciate that you will explain what your definition of "hypocaloric" is, to know what we are talking about).

If you really want to improve your health, the best you can do is demand treatments that have a contrasted scientific guarantee, flee from "because it works for me", if the argument that someone uses to recommend a product is reduced exclusively to what is "natural", will probably be a loss of time and money.

Wow with_q_de_quimica,

From what I understand of your two comments, you have a very strong opinion against the word "natural"- I don't know what it means.

In my desire to maintain the best state of health that is possible, I have been in many forums and read many opinions (of people who say expert, as authors of books and studies, and people who believe very firmly in the solution thatIt has worked personally). And there is a lot of debate on terms and concepts.

I have no doubt that there are certain foods that rise glycemia and others that help lower it or keep it stable, for example, lettuce, garlic and onion. But how much lettuce, garlic and onion can one eat?For me it was a real struggle, which really caused me to find what to eat that I did well because I had multiple symptoms that impoverished my quality of life. The medicine alone did not work for me because it had low glycemia but still continued with many discomforts (restless legs, tingling, muscles tremor, blurred vision, cold and heat sensation at the same time, red eyes, alterations of urination, etc..).

The information out there is very contradictory, with some defending their views with force.I do not think that one should be proved to everything they say -medical or naturists -because you can harm.So I try to inform myself as much as I can make a decision, and that's why I ask here.

I have served the green juice on an empty stomach and vegetable juices, swimming and metformin.

With "hypocaloric" I have no idea what I mean because I don't tell calories.I used the term poke I thought it would be easy.I such as some chicken breast bits in olive oil with cauliflower and asparagus.Or I can eat broccoli and carrot with fish to the peg. They are low glycemic load foods. Before it chopped some cupcakes between meals. Now the juice of vegetables and fruits largely replaces the flours.Still as flour -based products, but much less than before, that they were the basis of my diet.

I found myself in the forum that someone talked about Stevia.I'm going to find out more about that.

And, insulin is not injected with "all diabetics of the planet."In the title of my specific post that I speak of diabetes2.I myself, about 15 years ago I had an era with glycemia of 400 and changed the diet (I stopped eating desserts every day) and exercised and kept me in 125 on an empty stomach. After a few years - when I ran out of fright, I fed meal and bulk sugars again and stopped exercising and the result is obvious.

Well, thanks for answering even if we do not agree.I imagine you have type 1 diabetes. Take care how you know how to do it.Greetings.

At all I have a bad opinion about the word "natural", but it does quite bothers me the use that certain sectors make of it ... natural is absolutely everything!, No product has been created by the human being of nothing,As natural is codeine as the manazana, attributing goodness to something simply because it looks like a plant is very dangerous.

It is evident that there are foods that raise the level of glucose in blood and others upload it less, that is something that your endocrine is supposed to tell you, just as it should be the one who tells you the amounts that you must consume and perform controlsNewspapers to surely go as it should, and if necessary to make the modifications that are needed on your diet, stick to what you can find in one or the other forum is very dangerous.

When I say "the insulin that all the planet diabetics are injected," I obviously mean all the planet diabetics that are insulin, I obviously do not mean those who do not use it ....

You imagine badly, I have no diabetes, I registered in this forum for my girl who has been for about 20 years.

Hello @juume123, when you say "feeling of cold and heat at the same time, red eyes, alterations of urination", is it because it causes you diabetes? What kind of alterations of the urination do you have ??

On "natural" remedies, I inform you that in the forum we have extensive experience with people who are discharged simply to sell their novel natural system to cure diabetes, 100% of cases are false, it is demonstrated, thatWhere there is a need (people with diabetes), they always appear exploited who try to get the money and if they also take health, they don't care, so certainly, recommend us all very careful with miraculous methods!

I also clarify that we are not against the natural by definition, as explained by @con_q_de_quimica, we agree to experiment and listen with an open mind, but always with coherence and scientific base !!!!;)

A last suggestion, whenever possible, reference the sources, be concrete in the words, avoid generalities and all keep a good tone of discussion and desire to collaborate, encourage!, That we are doing very well !!: P.

Hello fer,
Thanks for your kind answer.I understand the distrust of the miraculous priests, which there are several there, with a profit as shameless as that of the pharmacists who usually criticize.
As for the references, because on the one hand a little laziness, and on the otherEnglish.

It has cost me a lot to find a diabetes management that serves me.Even the diagnosis. When those symptoms began to me, I didn't know it was diabetes. The fasting sugar came out to less than 125 and I went through many specialists: neurologist, gynecologist, ophthalmologist, internist, nutritionist, naturopath, chiropractic and psychiatrist. The neurologist and the psychiatrist sent me sertraline and took it for two years.I went to the neurologist after a crisis, which today would call "hypoglycemia" in which I had intense cold patches and heat in various parts of the body.It was trembling.Half I lost consciousness.I could not distinguish whether I was asleep or wake up, etc.

I got used to my symptoms. What I noticed was like a struggle of my body because the symptoms went and went.To shorten the story, in a series of routine exams I got fasting glycemia in 250;I repeated it a couple of days later and it came out in 200, and the internist sent me Janumet, which shortly after I changed for metformin only.

Medicine is not enough.I learned that soon. And from there my search for everything that helps - and the less side effects it has better.

There are many symptoms associated with diabetes that do not appear in any diabetes brochure - you have to study a bit.For example, itching to the skin is caused because "sugar is deposited in the skin" or something. For concrete data I would have to look for the source where I read it.The nervous damage: the sugar is deposited in the dendrites and opens them so they cannot make the connection well (again would have to look for the source).Urinary infections are frequent.I don't know if my symptoms are "caused by diabetes."I am not a phytotherapist or anything like that. That is why I preferred to make this post from my experience as a person with diabetes.

Since I incorporated the green juice into my routine, my nails are not sock, my skin is less dry (Did you know that the diabetic skin is cracked?), I feel less fatigue, I reduced the desire to eat sugars.I have already taken the green juice for half a year; There are other things that say they are, but they do not consist of me, and that is why I am interested in the experiences of other people.

Now I put more what you explained, the skin is cracked and dry due to dehydration, and urine infections are also common, as well as other dryness problems and fungi that may appear in the female zone.

Thanks for sharing what you know!;)

Well, in case someone serves, I will continue here with my experience.
Why do I look for something additional to allopathic medicine? To improve my quality of life.

When I started with medicine, I started with janumet and exercise (swimming). The blood glucose was super good to less than 100, but the symptoms, that is, the discomfort continued.I took janumet for several months with 1st daily exercise, but eating cakes, cookies, etc.Tremor, dizziness, headache, intense cold, tinitus, and internal blows in the head - that I have not seen that symptom anywhere, tingling, numbness etc.Quality of life: very bad.

I started studying about diabetes with all the approaches I could find, from the info of the American Diabetes Society (USA) to the books that offer the cure in 7 days.I read a lot about the properties of different foods.I read about different feeding currents: fat or non -fat, carbohydrates or non -carbohydrates, plants based oncinnamon, population studies etc.The amount of information that is outside, of different currents of thought is impressive.

Books about natural "priests" tend to have an approach in eliminating allopathic medicine, as if that were the goal.Luckily for me, natural priests have greatly improved my quality of life by having reduced the discomforts or symptoms (feel bad). And no, it is not a "cure."It is rather the hope that the disease does not advance how allopathic doctors, who say that the disease continues to progress and that their main weapon is to increase the dose of medicine or add more and more medicines.

I opted for dense food in nutrients and exercise. With this triglycerides approach, cholesterol and blood pressure they went down. The blood glucose remains more or less stable in low values 110-140.I guess micronutrients help recover health by supplying deficiencies.(I have not made exams of deficiencies of minerals and vitamins etc., nor will I do it, so it is empirical.)

My doctor wanted them to be in less than 100 on an empty stomach, but that rarely achieved it.And when I stop doing something for several days, because I don't have time, or whatever, glucose and blood pressure rise again.

This safe approach is not for everyone. Some will prefer to eat a good piece of cake and take more medicine. Some may not know alternatives or do not know how much damage the disease does - it is that blood sugar damages many organs because blood is everywhere - it is not a localized disease.

By the way, my doctor has nothing against me drinking green juice. On the contrary, he told me zero sugar, and I have not succeeded.

Well, in case someone serves him, and in case someone wants to share, there he has left.

Your experience is great, luckily it seems that you have not fallen into barbarities such as the Paleo diet, the ayurveda, etc ... The currents of thought are very entertaining, but we must differentiate between facts and opinions; Thus, even if I think 2+2 = 70 the reality is that there are 4, that someone thinks that it is 70 (although that someone is a Nobel Prize) will not change the fact that the result is 4. So somethingbe written in a book or appears in a TV advertisement does not imply that it is true.

As for the demonstration that something works or does not work, it is actually very simple: recruitYou don't give it to half (doing it double blind), you finally compare the results of both groups; If the one that the remedy has improved more than the other group our product works, otherwise it is worthless.Subsequently, our study will have to be reviewed and the studies reproduced by another team in another center and with different individuals ... but curiously the "alternative medicines" are not able to pass any tests ...

I personally do not know what you mean with "green juice", but if your doctor approves it is great.

Well, first the "green juice".The one I have taken for almost half a year, every day, on an empty stomach: Roman lettuce, chill, chard, celery, Green Granny apple.I make a cup that I take before breakfast. The three green leaves have in common the contribution of potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron.I have also added some little watermages, such as 1cm.Of fresh gegibre, such as 1 inch of sweet chili, some green or purple cabbage leaves, beet leaves and escarole, depending on whether or not I have in the kitchen. This green juice is an adaptation of Gerson therapy of the Gerson Institute (in case someone wants more information).

Second: The studies you mention. Many times these studies are very small, conducted in a few patients and for a short time.A study with less than ten people is not unusual, and for two weeks.Luckily there are also studies with larger populations (2 thousand people) and over 5 years. There are studies that observe the eating habits of a population and there is the empirical knowledge that an individual obtains about his own person or who observes in his relatives.

Clinical studies are expensive to buy in publications such as Pubmed and others, so I have few studies.I rely rather on extensive literature. There seems to be a consensus that vegetables do well and refined flours and simple sugars hurt. There is debate about whether you prefer fat or carbohydrates and what kind of fat.

Diabetics do not assimilate well and do not take advantage of all food nutrients.I have fallen in love with the juice extractor because it predicts food and its nutrients are more usable (or so those who promote juices) say.Personally, what I notice is that I would never eat two pickery with everything and its leaves, 2 or 3 small carrots, about 3 leaves of Roman lettuce, 1 or 2 leaf of curly, etc.I would never do it and with the juice extractor I can take those amounts 2 or 3 times a day, if I want.

Here are some properties of those foods:
-Colized: vitamins A, C, and K. copper, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus.
-Cheguita: It has vitamins A, of group B (B1, B2, B3, B9), C and E has minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, iron or selenium.
-Achelga: important contribution of carotenoids, iodine, vitamin C, magnesium, vitamin B9, water, potassium, iron, calcium and vitamin A.
-Apio: vitamins A, C, B. Potassium minerals, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium

And this note about Gengiber and Diabetes:

Researchers from Sydney University, Australia, found that the extracts of
Buderim Ginger (Gengiber that is cultivated in Australia) rich in gingerols - the main active component of the Gengiber Root - can increase glucose consumption by muscles cells without the use of insulin, and therefore, help in theManagement of high blood sugar levels.

Gengiber and cataracts:

A study published in the August 2010 edition of the Molecular Vision magazine says that a small dose of Gengibre helped delay the beginning and progress of cataracts - one of the complications of the view associated with long -term diabetes - in diabetic rats.

I think it's great about green juice, I would not eat many of the components if it is not juices or similar, and I insist your endocrine should have said it, and in case someone could serve here I leave the link to the Spanish database of compositionof food Link

Regarding that the studies are expensive ... yes, they are relatively expensive, but without a doubt they are much cheaper than what costs them to advertise products lacking scientific base (and in many cases of common sense), not to mention that institutions such as the European Food Security Authority (for its acronym in English EFSA) conduct studies on their own initiative and publish them for free, for example, it is not necessary that all royal jelly producers do studies on their product,EFSA has already shown that for humans real jelly is useless.

Good morning everyone,
Thanks for opening this debate.Today there is so much accessories saturation - supplements that talk about healing diabetes or treating it in themselves. And it bothers me, because legally they cannot talk about these healing properties for their category of "food complement" product. They saturate the market and are not even legally suitable and I do not recommend it to anyone, since they neither have the studies or anything.
On the other hand, important to differentiate the category of dietary products for special medical uses. They are products that did pass a prior authorization for marketing and have scientific studies and evidence and are allowed to talk about the dietary treatment properties of diseases. And are for sale only in pharmacies unlike accessories.
Therefore, it is important when buying products, look at what category they are.
Being diabetic (type 2), if I use something "natural", I opt for adume (dietary food for special medical uses, since it gives more confidence and is recommended by doctors for having the approval of health).
Thus, for example, in Germany a doctor has recommended a dietary treatment course with Nanovit Metabolic.I have normalized blood glucose levels, sugar metabolism, I feel much better.Soon I have a second cycle, I plan to continue seeing the results, since it helps me reduce blood glucose changes at night (I have read that it turns glucose into fructose, its digestion does not depend on insulin, relievesMetabolism without losing nutritional value). Now I also recommend it to everyone I know with DM2 to improve the quality of life. That's what we are for :)
I recommend you inform yourself about the Adume category, to know better what a dietary treatment is, which does not replace a medicine, but it helps improve the quality of life as I have said before.
Greetings
Raul

Very good raul, visiting the website of the product you mention seems a bit "weird": since they are not clarified with what components they carry until, they say, it has antioxidant effects that prevent metabolic syndrome ..?It does not make much sense to say, there is nothing that makes it especially interesting for those who suffer from type II diabetes ...

I don't know very well what knowledge that German doctor will have, but fructose is a glucose isomer, "transform" glucose into fructose makes no sense.

In summary: smells like Timo
