Today I wanted to share an initiative that, as a person with diabetes and an active member of this forum, seems especially nice and necessary to me.This is the “Path to change Diabetes 2026”, a program of healthy marches that starts these days and that demonstrates something that we repeat a lot here: taking care of ourselves does not have to be complicated, expensive or lonely.

For years I have learned—often through trial and error—that regular physical exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve our values, feel better, and regain some sense of control. And I'm not talking about doing marathons or joining the gym out of guilt, but about something as simple and powerful as going for a walk with someone.

This project, promoted with the support of thePonferrada City Counciland coordinated by the Come con Cabeza clinic together with theBas van de Goor Foundation, proposes weekly walks for 20 weeks, with two different rhythms, so that each person can adapt it to their physical condition. That, for me, already says a lot: here it is not about competing, but about adding steps and perseverance.

What I like most is that:

  • It is open to the entire population, not just people with diabetes.
  • Registration is free.
  • Allows you to join even if the program has already started.
  • It is supported by previous studies that demonstrate real improvements in glycemic control, emotional well-being and adherence to healthy habits.

As people with diabetes—and also as parents, partners or friends—we know that movement not only lowers blood sugar:
👉 low stress
👉 improves mood
👉 reinforces self-esteem
👉 and, something key, it makes us feel accompanied

Initiatives like this connect a lot with the spirit of this forum: community, mutual support and small gestures that make big differences in the long term.I wish we saw more similar projects in other cities, and I hope we are encouraged to share them here to inspire each other.

If anyone on the forum participates in this type of march or knows of similar initiatives in their area, why not open a thread and tell about it?Maybe we are helping someone take that first step that costs so much.

[[ERROR-TRANS]]Un abrazo grande y… paso a paso, seguimos caminando juntos 💙🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️
