A total of 7,000 people with diabetes from the provinces of Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada and Seville will participate in a European project to design an online monitoring system of their illness, through the use of new technologies and with which you want to improvethe quality of life and avoid complications derived from diabetes.
Andalusia is the region that leads this initiative, called 'Palante' project (Patients Leading and Managing Their Helthcare Through Ehealth), which is co -financed by the Competitiveness and Innovation Program of the European Commission and coordinated by the Andalusian community.
This initiative, which will be carried out in six countries, aims to promote the active role of users in the care of their health and improve access to the digital health history of citizens.Specifically, in Andalusia the project will focus on the development of an online monitoring system for people with diabetes.
Diabetes mellitus is a health problem that suffers around 15 percent of the population and can mean the appearance of serious health problems such as blindness, terminal renal failure, lower member amputations and cardiovascular disease. These complications are frequently associated with risk factors such as obesity, arterial hypertension and dyslipipemia.
In total, there will be 7,000 people with diabetes from the provinces of Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada and Sevilla will participate in this project, which has begun in March and will last 18 months, as reported on Monday the Andalusian Sanitary Administration.
In the province of Seville, the project presentation has already been made to professionals who will carry out the pilot and the figures of the participants that amount to 1,370 people belonging have been offered.By regions, Osuna Correponden 142, Aljarafe 216, Sevilla Norte 202, Sevilla Sur 290 and 519 in the city of Seville.
In the presentation of the project to professionals, a description of the European Palante project has been included, the description of the pilot in Andalusia and its framing within the framework of the Pidma (Andalusian Plan for Diabetes Mellitus in Andalusia), the experience of the first district to use the system(The Bahía Cádiz district) and a tour of the main functionalities that have been developed.
Palante Project, through Click Health
The 'Palante' project seeks to design an online monitoring system of these risk factors through a specific health click version, the tool that allows citizens to access their clinical information and that can consult through the virtual office of the virtual office of thePublic Health System of Andalusia using the digital certificate. This specific version allows users to introduce the results of the controls they make in their homes.
Specifically, patients will update, depending on the periodicity established for each case, blood pressure rates, blood glucose levels, body mass index (calculated as a function of weight and height) and the measures of its abdominal perimeter.
To facilitate the measurements of each of the parameters subject to control, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare will distribute among the participants of the community a total of 3,000 glucometers and 400 tensiometers. The sending of the measurements can be done manually or connecting both the glucometer and the tensiometer directly to the computer to make an automatic reading.
In this sense, the information will be collected in the patient's health history, so both patients and professionals may have control of the different measurements and, in the event that any of the levels loaded is abnormal, the systemputsAn alert in the Professional Health Panel so that he can act quickly and precisely.Although, this system does not work as alert to the need for emergency assistance, since in those cases patients should follow the usual channels.
In addition, this specific version of health click incorporates a messaging system that allows users to maintain contact with the professionals who attend them.It is a deferred communication system that allows users to raise non -urgent doubts that will later be resolved by the reference professional.
The 'Palante' project has the participation of ten countries and pilots will be held in regions of six of them. Each region has focused its performance on a different user profile. In the case of Spain, Andalusia (monitoring and online control of diabetic patients) and the Basque Country (patients with respiratory diseases -asma and COPD) are present.
Likewise, the Italian region of Lombardy (patients with chronic heart failure), Turkey (patients with ankylosing spondylitis), the south-east region of Norway (patients with chronic diseases -diabetes and heart disease-), the stretria region in Austria(X -ray exposure), the Czech Republic (access to the vaccination calendar and citation through health history), to which two additional experiences are added: France (patients access to the personal health folder) and Denmark (management by management bythe patients of their personal health information).
