URGENT - BASAL Insulin Pump

laurita11977's profile photo   10/19/2013 6:02 a.m.

Hello,

Yesterday they put the bomb and the experience has been horrific, a 3 -hour hypo tried to overcome it.I do not know if it has something to do but the basal in feathers put it at 22:30 and they told me to activate the basal in the pump about 20:30 approx.
Do you know if there is any type of calculation to calculate the basal?I imagine that there will be some kind of conversion because with less units of fast in the basal it makes me more effect than with more of Lantus.

Let's see if you can help me because I have it fatal: -s

The conversion is 20% less basal in the pump.If you have a fat hypo you can disconnect it half an hour

The first days can happen to you because your body has active basal, so consider it.However, with a pump is normally needed less insulin. The basal as Tica tells you will be approx.20% less than you put with pen, but it is assumed that this calculation will have your doctor, no? ... pump hypos are corrected much faster than with pen, precisely because unless you havePost a bolus, the body has no active insulin. With a disconnection of a while, or a lower temporary basal, and the HC, quicks that you usually take to trace, you will have no problem. That is why I think that downturn has been due to what I have told you at the beginning, excess basal.

I get the bomb 1.5 hours and nothing at all, apply the rule of 15 4 times ... in the end there was a moment that went up, I imagine that due to the lack of insulin in the body.

Laurita, the first days with the pump are usually a bit chaotic, logical when the treatment is changed so having a little patience, as soon as you have well scheduled the bomb you will see what change and better :) Ask everything you want you to alreadyWe are a few with a few years of experience ....

Laura I do not recommend stopping the bomb so much, and less pregnant is easier to make ketosis in your state.

As you wear the Dexcom, if you see the trend is down, lower the temporary insulin 1 hour, for example 50%, but leave some insulin.Maximum half -hour disconnections. Then instead of the 100% ta you put 90% and look if so you are doing well. You sign up all this and you are looking for patterns. The problem of pregnancy that changes both insulin needs that are probable that you don't get to find a clear dose.I played a lot with the temparels and when I saw that I had 24 or 48 with an X% insulin changed basal, but pointing the ancient, in case it had been a false change of needs.

I take the post, how many basal sections do you have?It is that I have been a couple of days (hence the gum) that at approximately three hours of eating and dinner, a barbarity is triggered and that I come short ..... curious.I think it can be for the basal.

I have 3 ranges from 00:00 to 04:00, from 04:00 to 08:00 and from there to 00:00, is it common?

Thank you

If you are triggered from 3 hours, you lack basal, I suppose that at the hour and a half or two hours of having eaten it will be fine. I have 5 basal sections;00.00, 04.00, 13,30 and 17,30.

It may be that you lack basal, especially if you have not ingested a lot of protein+fat ... then you should make a basal greater than 2.5 hours of eating and dinner ...
Or it may have ingested a lot of protein+fat and be the HC, s slowly that have not yet done their effect ... that would be solved with a dual bolus in food and dinner.
Angela has about 6 or 7 sections ... you will have to see it.

Well, right now I have 00.00, 04.00, 08.00, 10.00, 12.00 and 21.00 but since the bomb put me three months ago, almost every week we change them ...

Nothing I can't solve it, 2 to 3 hours after eating or dinner pummm I get up super fast and without coming to the case :(

Every time I get more basal but nothing, one day I do not do it but it is normal for it to do so.

Hi Laurita11977, you have to put the Basal Greater 1/2 hour before, as little, that you begin to notice the climb ... and if you need more, then go up more ... how much as you are uploading? ...If you want, before changing basal, try a few days with temporary basals and when you already have it, you change the section and that's it.

Go up without fear, I get to get more than 100 units a day (Basal + Bolus) rises without fear.I had basal 4 units per hour, now the highest is 0.5

Ok thanks I am going to try, I do not understand it because it goes up this meaningless, it is that I have until clicking 2u without eating anything to start going down a little :(

The bad thing is also that I get very short just before I start climbing with what I had to lower the previous bowling .... It seems counterproductive to lower the bolus and climb the basal but I can't think of anything else.

How are you?

You need to raise the basal through the placenta. When I gave birth, it is normal for you to put a dropper of insulin, when I expel the placenta I was 2 hours of insulin, until I stop taking effect.Pass more than 80 units to 25 from one day to another. And with hypos!

Think that if you need more insulin, it is that the placenta does its function!

Buah that passed, so that something would have happened to you. I am 20 weeks, I understand that it goes up but especially in the last quarter.

It goes up, especially in the second quarter, from week 34 or before it begins to lower the needs, or at least that happened to me.Between the placenta losing its functions and that the contracts begin (they are muscles and consume energy) I had to go down a lot, especially at night.
