The pharmaceutical firm Bayer brings us a new way of incorporating video games into the world of health with an apparatus that added to the Nintendo DS becomes a fun alternative to measure glucose for diabetic children.
Called Didget, the device connects in the second slot of the DS or the DS Lite and reward children who use the meter with points in the game that can be used to unlock levels and buy objects.
It is true that the game itself has nothing to do with diabetes, the important thing is that it helps children monitor their blood glucose level.The negative part is that it is not compatible with the new Nintendo DSI.
It should be added that a time ago a similar product for Game Boy Advance called Glucoboy designed by Paul Wessel, the same Didget architect, whose work has been inspired by the fact that his own son suffers the disease, was also launched to the market.
