Hello everyone,
I wanted to share something that is directly affecting me, and that will surely also affect other colleagues on the forum who use the Ypsopump insulin pump.
A few days ago, the supply shortage of Fiasp® PumpCart® and NovoRapid® PumpCart®, the prefilled insulin aspart cartridges that many of us use with our pumps, was officially confirmed.Novo Nordisk has announced that availability will be intermittent throughout 2025 and, most worryingly, that they will permanently stop selling Fiasp® PumpCart® at the end of 2026 throughout the European Union.
Although the company insists that there are no quality or safety problems, those of us who depend on this specific format now have to look for compatible alternatives, with the inconveniences that this entails.
The good news is that, after calling Ypsomed's customer service number, they treated me wonderfully. They explained to me that the alternative is to use refillable cartridges, which can be loaded with the contents of the insulin pens. The process is a little longer than using the pre-filled cartridges, but honestly, it's not a bad solution. It is a practical way to continue using the pump without depending on a format that is going to disappear.
If I have learned anything in all these years on the forum, it is that the community knows more than any brochure, and together we can find solutions, tricks and ways to better adapt to the changes imposed on us from the outside.
A hug to all,
