The first device created by the company, which won the G5 Innova prize focused on social entrepreneurship in Spain, is aimed at diabetic people and is able to record the use of insulin pen for the treatment of the disease.
The R&D market research head of Insulclock, Suso Pérez, refers to this device expressing that with him “we improve the control and monitoring of diabetes, affecting the improvement of adherence to treatment, as well as in an improvementin the quality of life of the insulin -dependent patient ”.
When and why is this project born?
At the end of 2014 and thanks to this question: Have I put insulin?
This is the question that José Luis López [co -founder and general director of the firm was asked], type 1 diabetic for more than 20 years, after the insulin is injected;I couldn't remember!
To remedy these forgetfulness and mislead, he decided to ask his endocrine if there was any device to help him confirm if he had really put insulin. The answer was no.They told him to try to wear a gum on his wrist, or score him in a booklet.Like other diabetic people, all these solutions seemed a bit archaic, so he decided to empower and solve their problems.
His friend and partner, Jesús Arenas (industrial technical engineer), decided to help him find a solution, and that was how the idea of creating the first device that would help improve the quality of life of people with diabetes was born.
They decided to stop all José Luis's problems with his diabetes; From now on you mislead them, doubts and forgetfulness would be things about the past.
How does your device help keep diabetes under control?
With Insulck we take advantage of the moment of insulin administration to register fundamental data: when, how much and what kind of insulin. In addition to real -time monitoring your caregiver, tutor, the user himself or your doctor knows if you have put the insulin with the correct guideline.
You can also program alarms of any kind to remember the insulin administration and in case it does not occur to warn of your tutor or caregiver.
We avoid errors in the administration of insulin if you put the slow instead of the rapid since it detects it automatically. At that time he will whistle and on the app screen will alert you if you are sure that it touches you the slow or the fast.It will also notify the tutor in the event that you have configured it.
Insulck also informs us if insulin has been exposed to high temperatures that could have altered the properties of insulin.
Is there something comparable in the market?
There is currently no product that records the use of insulin pen as we do.There are substitute products such as an app or device that tells you the time elapsed since the pen cap was removed, but there is currently no one that automatically records you how much insulin you put on, what kind of insulin and when.We are the first in the world.
Do you plan to develop other similar devices?
Insulck is only the beginning, since we are working to monitor different pathologies, such as multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, respiratory, fertility, etc.
