And what do you have to do to get it @clarasweet?I had never raised it until I saw this forum but lately that I am seeing the complicated things at work, I see myself with 37-40 years unemployed and eating the snacks, at least in oppositions there are places ....

I find myself great but I recognize that it seems to me an injustice that limits my working life and some activities for being diabetic.

Now I have a work trip to China, before I was so happy on any side, for this trip I had to ask for official translators for certificates and the company's insurance has already reported that it does not cover me for diabetes.

In the meetings of 12 to 5 I have to look for excuses to eat or put the basal and sometimes I can not.

It is not easy.I do not feel incapacitated but limited and before (3 years ago) I did not have these problems.

It is clear that I had not analyzed it from your point of view, I recognize that you are right in terms of the % of disability and its tax benefits. It seems fair to me.I saw it more thinking that you were looking for a pay so you don't have to work.

But that they grant us that % does not make you not have to look for excuses to eat at meetings from 12 to 17, that you have a nocturnal hypotYou have to manage them as you can ... right? They are different things.

@"Piruha" is clear that it depends on the use of each one, there will be those who honestly need a help or subsidy and do not receive it, and who does not need it and they give it to it.I have not received transport scholarships, and I have seen how colleagues have asked them, they have been given, they have managed to go by car and be able to spend the video game scholarships. It is an example that does not come in case but depends on the ethics of each one.

On the job issue, here I think it depends on the company/workplace and the understanding of your colleagues and bosses.I am sure that each diabetic has a different history and opinion, based on their experiences and experiences. In my case, for example, I would love to have accepted some job offer at the foreigner but I have not done it for fear, for fear of seeing what happens with my health in another country, something that would never have happened before debuting.Another case, I used to act as a sports activities monitor, and since I debuted I did not consider it (in my personal case, I understand that there will be other people who can)

In the end I think that although it is the same disease, it is very different for many.Animos!

Now I begin to read objective opinions about the DM1, because sometimes it seemed that diabetes was a cold, but I see that over time the DM1 is putting on warning, it seemed that we were not aware of the disease we suffer, although weIt seems that they do not investigate "if they do" but I think what we suffer must be extremely complicated, it does not kill us but it is something that regulates many things ..... greetings to all.The important thing is to be aware of the disease we suffer ...

Hello! After a long time without going through here. And it is that in this subject I can not shut up !!Many times I have said it but, to our misfortune, we are not and we will not be like any healthy person, I'm sorry !!!Or at least as long as there is no cure, that my eyes will not see.I currently have a 41% disability and I have a total inability to my usual work. Why do I have it?Well, I have very clear that it is thanks to this damn and murderous disease, although diabetes has not added anything more than a few 12 points of the 41. Wearing with this damn disease since the age of 19 (and I will fulfill 47)It has been the consequence of a total deterioration of my health, my resistance-defense to diseases, etc. That is, this disease is gradually undermining and deteriorating over time. And no, I have not had a bad control of my diabetes, as you will surely be believing, quite the opposite.I always take care of my diet, I have done sports and I never had bad habits, but ... maybe my nature has been weaker and in the end I could with me.I have gone through up to 7 surgical operations, although the most serious has been the last one that has left me in my current situation (cervical discos). But in the previous operations I already saw how my body responded worse and even some had to be repeated for reproducing the damage.
I have it clear, we are not normal, we have to lead a life subject to an exhaustive control of sugar that, if you do not, give your bones on the ground in the middle of the people.Be pending a multitude of daily punctures and subject to the rest of the world, food, leisure, sport, work, sex, problems, laughs, cries .... everything! To this damn disease! And what do you help?NONE!!If even if you want health insurance (because we would need it) or do not, or if they do it, it costs you more expensive.
The word disability sounds bad, but it is true, unfortunately we are getting less and less valid. For this disease I have lost strength in my right arm and supports some terrifying pain that I do not want even my worst enemy. And yes, you are right the diabetes is not the cause of an disc herniation, but I assure you that the weakness that this disease has caused me, would not have had it without being diabetic.
I do believe that we should be recognized with a minimum degree of disability to obtain some benefit. At least 33% and obtain some fiscal benefit, which is already too much what we suffer and what this damn disease costs us.Not to mention the continuous measurement systems that exist and .... what they cost and the facilities we have to access them, that is, none!Instead of obtaining some benefit, we are pure business for laboratories, administration, etc.Enough already !!!Disability yes !!Subsidy yes !!!
Greetings!!!

Disability is measured by the level of difficulty or impossibility to be carried out to carry out the basic and instrumental activities of daily life, but you know what it is, you can look for it, it is widely scattered and standardized.

A person with diabetes does not have a single impediment for any of those tasks.

The rest are mental impediment that you put on some and that unfortunately people perceive and pay the rest because they put us in the same bag.It is a real penalty that you feel that way, but more fuck me that others pay the consequences of being labeled as a sick person.

And by the way the word disabled, and even disability can no longer be used according to European regulations because they are degrading. The term is functional diversity.

When because of this disease it makes your body weaker and weaker and prone to acquire other diseases, you tell me.When for those other diseases you need help even to eat, dress, clean and ... even to clean your ass !!!!You tell me if it is an impossibility to carry out activities of daily life.I do not know if you have read me well, but I have said that this has happened to me is a consequence of 28 years with this disease, not that a diabetic is always like that. And, forgive again, but it is a mental impediment who is walking with your 5 -year -old daughter down the street and has to see that her father falls round to the ground, begins to convulse and begins to come out to foam through her mouthBecause of severe hypoglycemia without any symptoms, because I have a great mental impediment.
I don't know how much experience you have with this disease, but I only speak from my 28 -year -old experience. The name that is also given to me, disability, disability, disability ... I only know that we are not like the people who are healthy, that we have no benefit that helps us, rather the opposite, we are cannon meatTo get their pockets a lot of people.
And be careful!I admire all those who try to give normality to the disease getting great achievements, such as the friend @jconegar (Jorge Moto), I also try, but even they also say that we are not like the rest of the people who are healthy.
And with all the love in the world, huh

Let's see ... with diabetes you can do everything, but with many added problems.
No, we are not healthy and we have multiple problems for it, therefore a special consideration of public authorities would come.Calling it disabled, disabled, chronic patients, as you want, but we are not "normal."

In my previous work I frequently had to ... climb to mountains, and especially in winter and with bad weather !! ... part in vehicles and on foot (inspecting hydraulic supply infrastructures and channels of runaway streams), such asI did it?Carrying the high sugar during the entire route and also assembled with fruit and candy juices, even so when hypoglycemia to singing, and to see how you solve it in the middle of nowhere.
I did it?, If I did it, and well, but with a thousand problems more than a normal person, and having the glycosylated by the clouds due to the high intake of sugars to be able to do the work.

Now I carry the Free Style sensors, and I neither want nor can I afford those excesses, I must try to have the sugar inside the correct limits, and I begin to suffer the "side effects" since I have problems in sight and in sex.

Conclusion: We can do everything, but with a thousand difficulties more than a normal person, however, to obtain some favor treatment because of this, public authorities continue to consider us as "normal people", when we are not. That, yes, discrimination all that you want, you cannot enter the police, in the army, the firefighters, or be a plane pilot even of drones, haha ... sends noses.

@"Clouds" I also feel that you have to "pay" the consequences of what you think you are paying, but I'm sorry, nobody is going to tell me how I feel or stop feeling, because only I liveMy life and I have to take care of my body.Diabetes is a disease, you like it or not, and although it is not incapacitating per se, but it prevents in many cases to carry out a life normally.
If you have had the immense luck of having diabetes without negative symptoms or repercussions for your life, I am very happy, but not everyone has that luck.If you bother you that there are people who complain and that harms you, try to help or understand those people.Because not everyone has the same degree of knowledge in diabetes, in their care, in nutrition ... perhaps not a great willpower, self -esteem, self -confidence.In this post they have asked about a subject, which is separate, is important.Using people's concerns as a throwing weapon, I don't think anyone helps.

Good afternoon.I have a 38 % disability certificate for diabetes and some more things.I am from Valencia. And they gave me the certificate in 2007. I add those two details because in effect they do not make the same valuations in one province as in another.Nor in a time that in another (unfair, I know). Before the year 2000 (approx), just having a diabetes already gave you 33 %.I know some cases. From a few years to this part, they have become more demanding in the valuations. But if you allow me advice, do not give the battle for loss. The best thing is to present not only the endocrine report that takes you, but also all the medical reports that can be made (ophthalmologist, nephrologist, any specialist you go to).Because maybe these reports can add those missing points to reach 33 %.

I am thinking of introducing myself to oppositions and of course I access as a disqualidal I am more likely to get a place.

My question is whether with diabetes, having it stable, someone has given some degree of disability, it does not have to be 33, I am only interested if someone has given something only for diabetes, not for having more things.

And if so, what province?I am from Andalusia and I know that in this community the scale depends on the province not on the community.

Thank you very much for the information!

Hello maca,

I totally agree with you and disagree with Piruha and first of all I say that I respect the opinions of the whole world but unfortunateLabor neither collect nor etc, ... there are many people who intend to take advantage of the system but luckily today all this is controlled more.
I know that each diabetic does not have the same difficulty difficulties? But there are jobs that exclude us as a pilot, work in Renfe or in the subway and also for some official positions etc.
I have recognized a minusval of more than 33% but my father requests it being a girl 30 years ago, now we have changed them at least in Catalonia and to give it to you you have to have lost your knowledge 2 times a year and prove it.
I have been diabetics for almost 32 years and for the moment, let's cross my fingers without complications.Like being able to enjoy the square reserve advantage.
And that Piluha that we are not disabled I feel to discern with you.
We have an incurable illness that, however well we take care of ourselves, will take its toll before or after and in my particular case I never realize the OK downturn and that makes me late to work involuntarily and then nobody forgives me hours forMy condition, do I have to recover them and are not to blame for imperceptible hypoglycemia for me and do not consider that serious and limiting enough?
Think it Piluha

all the best

I agree with you Begoirina, I think we have an addition in our life that others do not understand ... and if certain positions ... like those who discriminate the scales of the disability suffer it .. we would see the difference !!
And people who don't feel different is because they don't notice that lack of understanding around them. Not in all sites above all jobs we can stop feeling different.
And of course there are people in worse conditions than us, but therefore we cannot stop seeing what happens to us and our need.

Hello: I am a diabetic for 34 years and my father took me with 9 years to a medical court that gave me a disability of 35 q The truth has been very good for me.Being disabled does not mean that you cannot work but something helps I have opposed and opposed for reserved places, it retains less hacienda etc.I am very healthy but I have my limitations I have to put insulin every day I have to eat when I need it because they give me down (I think more slowly, I block myI have to renew the card every 3 years, before every year, I have to spend a paste on sensors etc.Well, if they give me the better disability and clear work that I work as a nurse for 18 years and I have not lacAnd in my pregnancies I have worked until 7 months and the first was premature delivery. Now I am sorry to tell you how much they give you a 20 that is useless.

I will correct: disability is one thing and another disability.
They will not give you more than 14%.
On the subject of whether it is fair or unfair is very debatable.
Yes as a police, guard or firefighter, etc.You can't introduce yourself, you will need facilities in others, no ??.
