'Contour Next One' and 'Contour plus one', by Eleviseia Diabetes Care, are effective systems to analyze blood glucose, as different posters presented by the company have revealed during the 10th International Congress on Advanced Technologies and Treatments for theDiabetes (Attd).
Specifically, in three posters evidence of the high levels of accuracy of blood glucose analysis has been provided, while in the room a new methodology has been shown to demonstrate the differences between the blood glucose monitoring systemthat are governed under the accuracy criteria of ISO 15197: 2015.
In two of the posters, the accuracy of the Second Opportunity of Filling ('Second-Chance Sampling') of the meters 'Contour Next One' and 'Contour Plus One' was evaluated.This function warns users to reapplicate more blood in the same reactive strip if this is insufficient the first time.To evaluate the accuracy of both systems, a clinical and laboratory study was carried out.
The clinical studies carried out intentionally used insufficient blood samples to be able to evaluate the second filling opportunity ('Second-Chance Sample).Next, more blood was reajus and the results of the meters were compared to the reference results of the YSI laboratory analyzer.
In the clinical study conducted in 52 subjects who used the blood glucose monitoring system, 'Contour Next One', it was shown that one hundred percent of the tests carried out with capillary blood samples of the fingertips was insideof a margin of 15 mg/dl or 15 percent compared to the reference value of the laboratory (YSI) and 92.9 percent of the results were within 10 mg/dl or 10 percent compared to the reference (AND IF).
In addition, in the clinical study of the 'Contour Plus One' monitoring system, which also had 52 subjects, 95 percent of the results were within a margin of 15 mg/dl or 15 percent of the reference value (YSI) and 90.7 percent of the results were within 10 mg/dl or 10 percent of the YSI reference value.
Accuracy in people with or without diabetes
The third poster (ATTD7-0280) evaluated the accuracy of 'Contour Next One' in people with and without diabetes according to the accuracy criteria of 2016. These criteria require that 95 percent of the results are within 15 percentand that 99 percent are within 20 percent compared to the reference method.
In this study, the results of the tests carried out with capillary blood samples of the fingers in capillary fingers showed that 99.5 percent were within the range 15 percent and that 99.7 percent were within the20 percent, demonstrating that the 'contour Next One' system meets these criteria.
In the last poster a new method was presented to analyze the differences between blood glucose analysis systems that comply with ISO regulations.This new methodology uses probability curves to examine accuracy in all blood glucose ranges and showed that there may be differences between systems that meet the ISO accuracy criteria.
