Grouped in the Startup Clinics take care of a group of Mexican engineers and doctors, have successfully developed and proven a mathematical algorithm and a new technological platform that improve care for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2);since they double the percentage of patients who have controlled their blood sugar level and reduce treatment costs by 60%.
The mathematical solution was programmed on an original technological platform of clinics take care and reproduces the therapeutic approaches of greater efficiency, attached to international guides. The model was tested in Mexico City and replicated in a total of 80 clinics by 2021.
The algorithm obtained by the creators of Cida yourself, reproduces the therapeutic approaches of greater effectiveness, efficiency and attached to international disease treatment guides. This algorithm was programmed on their own technological platform that general doctors have at hand upon receiving patients.
The hard data tool adds to the knowledge of the doctors of the clinics to establish the diagnosis and punctual treatment for each person who lives with DMT2.It is worth mentioning that the cyber platform becomes increasingly robust with each of the files served in care, which currently accumulates more than 10,000 different cases, with 98% effectiveness.
“We started in 2012 and our clinical results have been very satisfactory. In patients with controlled diabetes we have twice as much as the national average, because we are about 40 percent, but also 80 percent of our patients improve their glucose levels, ”said Antonio Alfeirán, general director and founder of the clinics take care of yourself.
The new technology also allows to reduce by 60% the average annual cost of care of each patient with DMT2, so it is a unique care model worldwide.Clinics take care of the average annual expenditure of a patient is 6 thousand pesos, while the national average is 15 thousand pesos per year.
The group validated this model in its first two medical units and will replicate it in 80 clinics in the next five years to simultaneously attend about 70 thousand patients in 2021.
According to the World Health Organization, Mexico is the seventh country worldwide with the highest prevalence of the disease.Diabetes is not cured, it is a chronic metabolic disease that hinders the entry of sugar into the cells and therefore increases the presence of blood glucose. This gradually damages the tissue that covers the interior of the arteries and veins, generating damage to different organs.
Because the DMT2 can only be controlled, patients and doctors must have a long -term vision to avoid sudden increases or decreases in blood glucose levels, which are cause of complications such as heart attacks, blindness or amputations.
One of the problems that the group of clinics are solved is the lack of adhesion of patients to treatment. This is common when the patient does not understand what phase of the disease is or when he has to make numerous visits to an office or laboratory. To reduce this lack of attachment, the proposal of clinics takes care of yourself consists in performing a work route from the first consultation, after a broad review of each patient.
Those who go to clinics take care for the first time, are reviewed in 5 modules: nursing, laboratory, nutrition, medicine and counseling. From the information collected in said circuit, a personalized treatment for the control of the glucose of each person is defined, with a period of a year.
“In this first appointment, physical examination is carried out,Feet assessment, laboratory studies that are in five minutes, the above is registered in its digital file, with the nutrition and medicine team, as well as consulting so that our patients know where they are located with the disease and what will be thePersonalized strategy to control it.
“Subsequently and dependent on the type of follow -up given to the person, the times of his visit in the clinics take care of yourself.Adhesion plans are also offered to pharmacological treatments, oral and visual health plans, ”explained medical director Andrés Catzín.
