The Medicsen Project, an artificial non -invasive artificial pancreas for diabetes, has won the first Day CEU Emprende, in which, for the first time, the best entrepreneurship projects of different educational centers of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation competed at the national level, many of them from the acceleration programs developed in this course.
The director of the Santander Universities Spain, David Laguna, has delivered the Santander Universities Award for the best project, endowed with € 5,000, which has collected the Chief Operating Operating Officer of Medicsen, César de Mercado Santamarta.In the act, Laguna has indicated that “this program is an example of the support of Banco Santander to entrepreneurship, one of our priority acting axes.Support for higher education in general and the relationship we maintain with the San Pablo -Ceu University Foundation in particular, is a good sample of the vision we have to work to contribute to the progress of people, companies and institutions and society.
In the presentation, César de Mercado, explained that Medicsen is an app that predicts future glucose and recommends the best behavior to be safe, educating the user with lifestyle recommendations through a chat type interface, which encourages communicationnatural and facilitates interaction to increase therapeutic adhesion and improve disease control.In addition, this project closes the circle of treatment with a transdermal insulin administration patch, automatically guided by the algorithm.
Based on the most recent scientific evidence on diabetes and its variables, Medicsen makes a specific monitoring for each patient and time of their daily activity with continuous sensors.It brings great peace of mind, since the system deals with everything, the patient only has to introduce food data and receive advice thanks to the automation of the algorithm.
Medicsen competed with 10 other projects, to which the jury analyzed the viability of the company, its business model;the profile of the promoter team and its degree of involvement in the project;as well as the quality in its exposure.
In addition to this award, other awards were also awarded in the Demo CEU Emprende, such as the Fellow Funders Award to Helion Technologies, an airborne device for the launch of pressure on a surface, which is connected with an aircraft by means of a pluralityof slingas as an external load or basket.Helion's particularity is that it can be configured for different uses, such as cleaning and photovoltaic facilities or fire extinction in any area.The Inway Projects award fell to the Selecta project, a biotechnological start up that manufactures custom and very selective antitumor drugs, based on gene therapy;And the Queen Ventures Award to Ninjamails, a platform capable of finding the email of any person in the world, using Big Data, Probability and Machine Learning techniques.
The CEU Emprende accelerator is an initiative by CEU Emprende, a project of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, which seeks to complete the training of students and improve their employability (whether they are self -or foreign) through promotion and promotion initiativesof entrepreneurship, and put all the necessary means and resources so that those students with entrepreneurial potential can develop it successfully.This course have participated in the different activities organized by CEU Emprende for the three CEU universities, more than 950 people and 90 projects have been advised.
